“fun & unique local dining”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

this is a neighbourhood place where locals come for great food and happy hour(s) and visitors are made to feel welcome right away. its casual so you can go last minute. you might have to wait for a table but the owners will say "hi" and you won't mind

“Gluten Free Diners Beware”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

We selected this restaurant because of it's featured GF menu, but were sorely disappointed. After extensively clarifying the wait staff's understanding of our GF dining needs and affirming that understanding with the owner, my daughter discovered croutons hidden underneath her ceasar salad lettuce and my wife finished her GF pasta by finding a spaghetti noodle at the bottom of her bowl (for those with Celiac, this type of cross-contamination is not insignificant.) We took these unfortunate discoveries in stride, but in conveying to the staff/owner our sensitivity, they were borderline dismissive. For the rest of us who aren't GF, the food was average, at best. You can do better in the area.

“NOT AS GOOD AS THE UNCLE THINKS”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Louie has been doing thisfor a long time and believes his restaurant is a top place. His price.s are quite high considering you're not getting anything near the quality of food or service reflected in his prices. He thinks he has a New York style bistro but it's a poor excuse for one. when he charges so much for so little, I'm surprised maintains any loyal following. Most of what goes on seems to be on auto-pilot. Louie needs to spend more time and reduce his prices. Made a reservation but was told they didn't have one for us. They did seat us quickly but should have turned around when they screwed up the reservation

“Don't waste your time and money”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

When Uncle Louie's was in Carefree it was very small indoors and about the same size outdoors - small. BUT the food and prices were a TRUE value. Since they moved to Scottsdale, their restaurant may have a bit more ambiance however we find that the food is much more expensive, the service is mediocre, and not bad but not deserving of the honors it used to have. While the owners are very friendly and appreciative of your visit, this does not make up for the price increases and the lack of experienced service. The take out pizza we had this week was bland and really not very good but way too expensive for what we got..

“Questionable Choice for Take-Out Pizza”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

Yes, I agree that the interior of the restaurant looks quite friendly and that the owners specialize in making the guests feel welcome. However, it appears that the take-out customer pays for all that fluff as well -- at least that's the only earthly reason I can imagine them demanding $25 for a small-ish takeout pizza. The pizza was pretty good (a "B"), and would have been a fair value at half the price. The crust was a little soggy, the taste a little bland. Perhaps Uncle Louie offers a nice, local alternative for dine-in Italian, but there are better alternatives for a take-out pizza.
