We were pleasantly surprised at the rooms and pool at this resort. They are aesthetically beautiful and comfortable with a friendly service staff. Didn't get a chance to play at the casino... Will save that for next time!

I had training for work in one of the conference rooms. The hotel laid out a very nice continental breakfast for us. Conference room was comfortable as were the chairs. Had the buffet for lunch which was great, went to the seafood restaurant for dinner which was awesome.

I spent the night there, the room was large with a great view of the swimming pool. The shower was a little strange with the showerhead coming straight down from the ceiling, not bad but different. The shades over the window are wood with movable louvers. They won't completely darken the room

The pool was in the shade of the building starting around 5:00 which was great in the Arizona heat. It was over 100 outside but in the shade, near the pool, it was very comfortable.

Casino was a little smoky but the restaurants had clean air.

Room Tip: Ask for a room high in the tower facing the pool/golfcourse.

Where to start? Between the fine quality room, the over-the-top service, the great views & the comfortable stay, nothing quite beats this hotel in so many areas. Everything about this hotel is exceptional.

The room: Clean? Brain surgeons could do work in there. I mean that. Not even a hint of something being out of place, including the bathroom- a place I tend to be quite strict about cleanliness. The room is one of the best decorated & laid out I've ever seen. There is plenty of storage space (I'm a clothes horse, so I'm always looking for hangers & closets). While concealed, having a good in room fridge is important. What separates the level of 'good' to 'great' is opening up the fridge, and finding two bottles of water waiting. That shows both detail & quality. A Keurig coffee dispensing system is there as well, with choices of coffee, but also tea & hot chocolate. An unexpected & very nice touch- again, what defines the difference between good & exceptional. Wifi is complimentary & easy to access, granted a faster rate would have been nice- but got the job done easily. Lighting in the room is good- with plenty of both direct & indirect lighting depending on the mood.

The bathroom: This was over the top. The shower (a 'rain' type shower) was amazing... as was the ginormous bathtub. The towels were some of the finest I've ever seen- hotel or no hotel- and plentiful. Again, immaculately clean in every way. Being able to change the lighting inside the bathroom from 'bright' to 'mild' via a light switch was incredible- and turns it into a spa-like feeling with indirect subtle lighting in all the right places. I've yet to see any hotel do this in a 'standard' room, and again drives the point home that good to exceptional simply takes effort- and this effort is shown here.

Service: Everything (And I mean EVERYTHING) was handled in a way I've never seen before. Prompt attention to a faulty TV connection was done within 2 minutes of me calling the front desk to report it. Check in and check out was efficient, fast & friendly- and with plenty of choice offerings by the front-desk staff.

Overall you still have to remember this is a hotel on a casino. However, when you leave the casino behind, having a property with this level of detail & quality is rare. To have one which knows the difference between 'good' and 'exceptional' like this doesn't exist.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the WEST side of the hotel for stellar views of sunset... and no sun in the morning...

It was a very nice hotel with our standard room having a very nice balcony. Didn't go into the pool but looked lively with a very nice pool and sitting areas. The casino was very small and many tables not open but could be when we stayed because it was only a few night at the beginning of the week. Food was good at the sports bar and the raw bar (don't remember the names sorry). I don't eat raw food but they had a crawfish dish that was amazing and well priced for being in the middle of the desert. The bartenders were a hit or a miss with some being quick and sometimes waiting for awhile for service.

Stayed for 3 nights as a local getaway. Wifes birthday. Didnt gamble. I worked at a resort for 20 yrs and my wife has 30 yrs there. We know a nice place and great service when we see it. Resort was clean, with quality fixtures. Staff was very friendly (would encourage using the guest's name more), food was very good in the regular restaurants and excellent in Orange Sky. Pool service was so-so. We were willing to purchase drinks, but staff was infrequent. I realize that its a casino, but the pool is plain. This resort with JW's outside amenities would be formidable.
Would stay again and have already referred several friends.

We stopped in Scottsdale to visit family and unexpectedly stayed over night at the Talking Stick resort casino. The room was lovely with a nice view of the spacious pool area. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed and very large. We ate both dinner and breakfast at the buffet and the food was excellent. We happened to be there during pro baseball Spring training so the rooms were very pricy at $280 for the night.

Room Tip: Everything in Scottsdale is way over priced during Spring training.

We actually stayed here for spring training in March, 2012, then returned to visit the casino this past spring training, as we were staying at another hotel. I wished we had come back to Talking Stick again - it's really a nice size, with a lot of extras - great spa, a variety of places to eat, decent-sized casino. The hotel check-in is a little weird - in the casino, but it only matters once. We spent six nights and had a great time - the location was convenient for my husband's hiking and our baseball games. I would come back again next time.
