The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician
Ranked #27 of 75 Hotels in Scottsdale
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Just recently held Board meetings in the Canyon Suites meeting facilities and our group also stayed in the very spacious and beautiful suites. What makes this hotel special is the class of service from the greetings of the Canyon Ambassadors, to the conference coordinators, the wait staff, the bellman, the housekeepers - hard to top this staff anywhere in the world. Perfect location for small groups and even small weddings because the scenery outside is spectacular.

Room Tip: Ask for a room or suite nearer the lobby as the guest rooms wind along a long hallway

Thank you for taking the time to share your business experience. The service culture at The Canyon Suites is predicated on a commitment to excellence that is personal, detail-oriented and always delivered in a warm and friendly manner. As you mentioned, the boutique hotel’s more private, intimate function spaces are perfect for smaller gatherings or high-profile meetings. A spacious outdoor patio, located at the base of Camelback Mountain, provides a unique setting for a small reception or dinner. In fact, we have indeed had some weddings held in this area. We hope you’ll allow us the honor of hosting your board meeting again in the future!

Best of everything. Stayed in the Canyon Suites and the service and attention to detail is impeccable. Love all the attention! Location is close to many fine restaurants and great shopping. Luxury is the best word to describe the hotel and grounds.

We’re so pleased you enjoyed the casual elegance and personalized attention provided at Arizona’s only AAA Five Diamond boutique hotel. While set in a more private location on The Phoenician grounds, The Canyon Suites provides guests with a variety of enhanced services and amenities – including a new to-go breakfast and special hiking amenity -- in addition to the main resort’s signature offerings. We hope you’ll come back to experience our unique luxury again soon!

The grounds are beautiful, the suites spacious, the amenities generous but the most impressive aspect of all was the service. Only one other hotel or resort we have stayed anywhere in the world was so gracious, warm, responsive and hospitable. The staff all addressed us by name and teated us as if they had been serving us, as team, for years. Unquestionably the best place to stay in in Phoenix.

We greatly appreciate your wonderful comments! AAA Five Diamond service, with a personal touch, is the mission of The Canyon Suites and its ambassadors. We aspire to make every guest feel that he/she belongs. During your stay, we hope you were able to experience some of our signature offerings, including our daily complimentary afternoon wine tastings, and chauffeured-driven Mercedes. The hotel was nice but dated, I parked my car in the indoor garage and it felt dangerours not safe, it was dark and dirty scary, it was like from a horror movie. The hotel room was beauitful, nice views, great front desk, excellent pool. The elevators were very old and worn, you couldnt read the numbers on the buttons. The hotel is in a very nice area. This is hotel is more like a 2 or 3 star hotel, its not worth the money, it needs a redo the hotel..You can get much better for your money. If the room was under 100.00 a day it would be a good hotel.

Room Tip: your better off at the Boulders hotel or the Princess Hotel in Scottsdale

Thank you for sharing your comments. We are disappointed to learn that you did not find your experience to be indicative of our AAA Five Diamond standards. As part of those standards, we strive to provide a clean, convenient and well-lit underground parking structure for our guests – which, especially during the warmer summer months, is of special value to those staying with us. Should you prefer, however, complimentary valet parking is also available. We’re pleased that you enjoyed the exclusive infinity pool and the boutique hotel’s unique location, with views of Camelback Mountain on one side, and The Phoenician’s championship golf course and the valley beyond on the other. As a “resort-within-a-resort,” The Canyon Suites is designed to provide all of the amenities and services of The Phoenician, but with enhanced features and offerings, all set within a more personalized, intimate atmosphere. We hope you will visit us again and allow us to demonstrate what makes The Canyon Suites a TripAdvisor 2013 Traveler’s Choice.

The best resort experience I've ever had. My teenage nephew and I spent two nights here in mid-August. Definitely enjoyed the offseason rate (golf green fees were only $37).
The service was impeccable. Alex B. served as our attention-to-detail ambassador. Every staff member was diligent, helpful, and made us feel at home. The cleaning staff even organized the handful of change we left on the desk in the room.
The room was immaculate. The bathroom was huge and included a small tv. The room overlooked the golf course.
The pool was shallow but was a reprieve from the heat. There were only a few guests there during our stay. It was hot!!! I understand why it is a winter destination.
Alex recommended we eat at The Mission. It was a delight.
I will visit Scottsdale again only if The Canyon Suites is available. My nephew couldn't stop talking about our stay here.

Elegance and perfection best describe our stay at the Canyon Suites at the Phoenician in Scottsdale, AZ. The Canyon Suites are Arizona's only AAA 5-Star resort. The suites are exclusive and offer excellent service, many ammenities and privacy.

From the first greeting, everything was perfection. We were greeted by a Canyon Ambassador who took care of all of our needs including guaranteed reservations for resort dining as well as recreation. They assisted with renting a car onsite for a trip to Sedona and also booked our Pink Jeep Tour to guarantee there was availability of our selected tour. The private infinity pool was peaceful and a wonderful retreat for relaxing and enjoying private time.

Our room was a one-bedroom suite with a view of the pool and Camelback Mountain. The Sterling Silver Coffee service in the morning to the afternoon wine tastings added to the elegance. The walk from the Canyon Suites to the main Phoenician resort was a short distance and most days enjoyed the "Cactus Garden Walk" that is located on the northern edge of the resort and features 250 varieties of cacti.

There are many options for dining at the resort that included, J&G Steakhouse, Il Terrazzo, Relish Burger Bistro, the Oasis Pool Grill and The Thirsty Camel. The Relish Burger Bistro has views of the golf course and offers premium kobe burgers, sandwiches, salads and many options for cocktails. The food was excellent and was pricey. The Oasis Pool Grill offered a menu of sandwiches and salads and was convenient while enjoying the pool. The Thirsty Camel was a fun location for meeting friends and enjoying an after-dinner cocktail. The views of the valley are beautiful from the outdoor deck with fire pits and we enjoyed the nightly entertainment. There are separate reviews of the first two restaurants that we enjoyed.

The are many opportunities that we did not take advantage of such as the excellent golf course, tennis, the Spa and the Centre for Well-Being. There is a Family Activity Center and a Kids Club offered as well if travelling with children. There are also guided hikes up Cambelback Mountain.

Our stay was perfect from beginning to end and can only look forward to returning sometime soon.

We loved our stay from the moment of check in - until our sad departure. I've stayed in some of the world's top rated hotels and the service of the staff here measures up against any of them.
The Canyon Suites are sumptuous and I only regret we didn't plan more time to enjoy this great resort and the pampering. I'll be back for more! Have to try one of the special therapeutic baths they will set up in your suite for you.

Room Tip: I'd highly recommend the Canyon suites - considering all that comes with them and the inclusions...
