We are beginner riders, and had a lovely two hour ride one afternoon with the wrangler, Virginia, who was fun, professional, and helpful. She was delightful with our two children, aged 6 and 9, told lots of stories, and did a great job guiding us on the horses. The ride was pleasant and pretty, It would have been nice to get a bit more elevation so as to have a better view, but with only two hours, I'm sure there wasn't much more we could have done.

I would definitely recommend this place for novice riders and family groups. Kind, thoughtful, well run, highly organized, and very professional.

Great outfit- horses were very well taken care of. Real feel of western experience. Our guide (Kaitlyn?) was very informative and friendly. There was a young girl in our group and she was very patient and playful with her which was nice to see. Beautiful scenery and overall just a great time!

We just returned from a trip to Arizona, where we took a trail ride with 5 of us. We are experienced riders and have been on lots of rides--but none compared to this one. First off, you will be in the Tonto forest, with great views of the mountains---and will even go up into the foothills of a mountain nearby. We had our own personal guide, Virginia, and she made the ride the best. She informed of about all the different plants and the area and history, and worked to get to know each of us. She was so awesome, she really added a great deal. We got to trot quite a bit---and found the 2 hours went by fast. Great horses, great location if you want to be way out in the desert---and a great guide. Very well worth it.

So my girl wants to do a desert horse ride, so of course, we have to do it. My 9 year old daughter, with one week of horse camp last summer, is the most experienced rider in our family. My wife has been on a horse twice, and my son and i, never. Fear not! We each decided to wear helmets, even though the adults don't have to, and didn't feel like idiots for doing it. Cheryl, and Jeff ( our guide) picked us some good horses. Mine was rusty, my daughter rode pedro, my son rode bullet, and my wife rode chico. Jeff was very knowledgeable about the sonoran desert, and all the things in it, including good information about some of the nastiest cacti. He was very patient and helpful with our apparent lack of knowledge or confidence. He was very helpful every time our horses misbehaved a little. (Rusty liked to bite the other horses, and Chico seemed to want to eat almost anything and bullet just liked to take his time) It was really cool to hear the coyotes all start howling. We only saw a few rabbits, but i've no doubt there was a lot out there. All together an A+

Our family of four travelled from Toronto, Ontario over Christmas to experience the beauty and hospitality of Arizona and Cave Creek Outfitters was a definite highlight. The owners clearly take great care of their horses and the staff were a pleasure to ride with and get to know. Our guide was Joey and she was fantastic. Always ensuring our safety but making sure we were having fun, her knowledge of the area and horses made the ride all the better. We highly recommend Cave Creek to novice and experienced riders alike as they ensured to pair you with the right horse.
