Nice park in the middle of Scottsdale. Train rides, old engines and carriages, snack bar. Nice bakery/coffee shop across the street.

While the area is mostly for kids we enjoyed the model trains building. Lots of "seniors" playing out their boyhood passion. People working behind the trains were all very willing to talk about their hobby, their creations and plans for future displays. This display costs nothing but a donation. Also was fascinated by the "Merci" train which we had never heard about. I would suggest you look up Merci Train since there were originally 49, one for each state and one for Hawaii and Alaska to share.

My family loves this park. It is kept very well and the kids love the train. The model railroad club building is great, and really well done. They were having a lot of trouble with the lights since it was raining heavily so they let us ride the train and the carousel for free which is always fun! We will be back throughout the year.

This railroad museum with ties of my home Chicago and Lake Forest (IL) offers attractions for all, from tots with live steam train rides and a carousel to a fantastic model railroad exhibit, in several gauges including "H" or big, in a new 2+ million dollar building to a serious, scholarly "museum" in a presidential (F. D. Roosevelt, mostly) Pullman car, with excellent donated if a bit random railroad ephemeral artifacts to excellent photo documentation of the car's history. This all is very inexpensive and staffed with welcoming, generous volunteers. Easy to access off Scottsdale Rd. north of Old Town Scottsdale. Highly recommended--not to be missed.

If you have kids under 10, this should be on your list if you're visiting Scottsdale. Lots of room to run around, a great little train and carousel to ride, an interesting museum, and a fantastic model railway exhibit with many working model trains. There are also two large play structure areas, and a number of picnic areas some with fire pits. It's a fun and relaxing way to spend a few hours or so on a nice day. Our 11-month-old loved it.
