“Delightful Stay”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

We arrived a bit early, but we and our doggies were warmly greeted by Stephanie and made welcome while waiting in the lobby with an adult beverage. The beautiful mature grounds of this resort enhance its appeal. We had a poolside room by one of several inviting swimming areas. Our room was chic-ly decorated and the beds very comfortable, and there was a great shower. This turned out to be a pleasant respite on a cross country road trip - I would return here.

Since it was too hot to dine outside with the dogs, we ordered room service which was brought on a tray and not a room service cart, so although the food was good, it was difficult to dine at the desk. Another little oops was the tiny soap and no shower caps. The floor above was wood and you could hear all the movement, so I recommend an upstairs room.

My stay was 3 days for a business meeting. The facilities were nice, not 5 star, but nice. The meeting rooms were adequate, and well laid out.
The guests rooms were in need of a few updates. They have done a great job with decor, but the bath fixtures need upgrades.
The pool and spa area are very nice. Welcoming and warm.
Now I must add there were small flying bugs maybe flies or gnats in every meeting room we were in. Not something that I like around our lunches.
Overall nice resort close to old Scottsdale.

You have certain expectations when you stay at a resort in Scottsdale and are paying over a hundred dollars for a hotel room. They have a pool area but it is TINY. And you have to contend with all the kids. They don't have an adult only area. You get continental breakfast at almost any hotel including the super cheap super 8s. Not here. They serve coffee. That's it. If you want continental breakfast food you have to go to the restaurant and pay $2.00 for a yogurt cup or $3.00 for a bowel of cereal. They do have shuttles but the people that operate them are very snotty and no matter how much you give them for a tip they make you feel like you ripped them off. You get motel 6 service for three times the price. Not worth it

Thank you for the feedback. We do offer complimentary coffee and tea with all the goodies and complimentary wine hour each evening as amenities our guests normally enjoy. We have never promoted a free continental breakfast, I am so sorry you were expecting that. Snotty staff is unacceptable and I promise to look further into that as I normally receive raving reviews on my team.

The Firesky Resort is second to none. Great location with a relaxing and authentic atmosphere ! We are from London so we didn't know where to go but the hotel staff can't help you enough ! There is a lovely man named Clayton who can never do enough for you ! Arizona is a beautiful place we loads to see, eat and do. The hotel is exceptional and they even give you gram crackers, Hershey's chocolate and marshmallows to roast over the fire pitts.... Local are also lovely ! If you are debating going here don't ... Just do it !
We never want to leave xx

Clayton and Smore's. Wonderful combination! I can't thank you enough for the wonderful review. Trip Advisor is such a great place to get the "real feel" for a resort. Glad you took the time to share with future guests.

Loved the pools and wine/happy hour! Restaurant on-site, Taggia, was very tasty but be prepared for a $100+ bill for a table of two. The Sangria pitcher was a hit at the poolside bar.

Manager, Mr Ness, and his staff were very kind and accommodating with every aspect of our stay. They even sent a wonderful surprise the evening of my wife's birthday! I look forward to the opportunity to stay under their care again.

We stayed here for three nights recently, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at FireSky. Don't go expecting a spacious, palatial resort -- it's smaller and more intimate. The staff was top notch, and we did not encounter any poor service from any of the staff members except for a minor oversight which was quickly corrected (Our goldfish was late! See below).

The location is good to fair, depending on your perspective. There really isn't anything immediately near the hotel except other businesses and homes, but there is a large mall about a mile to the south which is walkable in good weather (in the summer heat it's not that pleasant). Also, the hotel has a quick shuttle service which can take you to the center of Scottsdale where all the shopping and food is located.

The property itself is in good condition and well decorated. Our room was very nice, though I wouldn't consider it "large" but certainly adequate. We had two queen beds, and all of us thought that the beds were extremely comfortable with enough pillows for the three of us. There's a small fridge, a flat screen TV, and a little snack minibar which is cleverly placed in a glass-topped drawer so it doesn't reduce the amount of space available. Prices were ridiculous as per any minibar, however. The bathroom is very nicely decorated with a basin sink, granite, and other touches. The shower head was very nice, and we had no complaints. One minor complaint about the room -- the desk had a glass top, which is normally fine except when you are using a computer mouse which have significant problems with glass. Consider putting a mousepad in the room, please!

Our daughter loved the pools, and the "beach" at the smaller one was a nice touch. The hot tub was nice and hot, and the larger pool was cool enough to provide relief while the "beach" pool was more akin to bathwater, which I suppose is hard to avoid with the Arizona sun in the summer. There was considerable debris in the pools from the trees in the courtyard, but since it's hard to stop trees from dropping seeds or leaves, I don't consider it that big of a problem. We did not use the outside bar at all.

The courtyard itself is fantastic. The variety of trees and flowers was gorgeous, and while the droppings (feathers and otherwise) were a bit annoying, the birds were a welcome addition overall as they were constantly singing. We even spotted a rabbit running around. There are seating options all over the place, and at night, it was easy to find a spot to alight without feeling that you're on top of hordes of people.

The fitness area is one of the better ones that I've seen at a hotel in recent memory. They have cycles and treadmills as well as dumbbells, adjustable benches (but not to fully upright -- that was a frustration!), and a multi-function tower with two cable pulleys that can be used for a wide variety of exercises including squats and deadlifts, with some compromises. Very nice setup especially if you're a weightlifter away from your normal gym and want to train a bit.

The concierge was pleasant and capable and connected us with a rental car for a trip out to Taliesin West just to the north of Scottsdale. Beware the Coke/Diet Coke price in the concierge though -- wow!

All told, we were quite pleased with our stay at FireSky and recommend it for anyone visiting Scottsdale. We would like to return to Scottsdale, and FireSky will be at the top of the list for hotels.

My stay at the FireSky was great. Clayton at the front desk was very helpful from giving me directions to assisting with lost key(s). The room was perfect, the staff very friendly and the grounds lovely.
