Large gourmet breakfast. Solitude and very friendly host's. The accommodations were roomy and exceptional. We highly recommend Down By The River Bed And Breakfast. Very close to several attractions. Close to river, wildlife and a wide variety of birds.

Our two night stay at Down by the River B & B last week was certainly a rare treat. Everything was perfect; the room spacious, an extremely comfortable bed, a small private patio as well as access to the main patio area AND the most interesting and tasty gourmet breakfasts we have ever had.... not to mention the homemade treats every evening. The room as well as the entire house was so interesting with all the antiques and theme items incorporated into the design. AND, it was absolutely pristine...... Angie and Mike must work mighty hard to keep the place so immaculately clean. AND, they were the most gracious hosts; quite knowledgeable about the surrounding area and the flora and fauna to be seen. We must say that we have been mighty spoiled; after staying at Down by the River, other B & B's will be hard pressed to stand up to the standards set by Mr. & Mrs. Hug.
Thanks Mike and Angie..............Marilyn & Chris

Can't tell you how much we are missing your wonderful breakfasts and evening treats Mike & Angie! Sure doesn't take long to become completely spoiled when you pick such a great place to stay. Still can't get over the beautiful furniture, decorations and antiques you have throughout the B&B. I think a person needs a longer stay here just to fully appreciate and take in all the amazing things right at the B&B itself. This is a great location for doing some activities in this area of Arizona such as driving out to the Chiricahua National Monument (great hiking through beautiful rock formations), touring the caves at Kartchner Caverns, and spending a day at Tombstone and Bisbie. We also played a round of golf at the Benson Golf Course. We so enjoyed the four nights we spent here during our vacation. The room we stayed in was great (the Cowboy Room) as were the people we met, and we thoroughly enjoyed the interesting conversations every morning at the breakfast table along with the fabulous food. Thanks so much Mike & Angie for everything. Wish we could have stayed longer.

My Mom, sister, brother and I traveled to Down by the River the week of April 21st, 2014. Our experience was wonderful. Mike and Angie work very hard to make every guest feel special. The rooms are each unique and show fun decorating touches that instantly make you feel at home. The entire building is absolutely gorgeous and very well represented on the web site. Each day we went out to explore the country and often when we were ready to go back to the B&B, someone would say, let's go home. The B&B is that comfortable. Breakfasts were fantastic. I tried foods I've never had before and every one was delicious. Mike and Angie are wonderful people. It was so much fun when they joined us at breakfast and sometimes in the evenings on the patio to talk and share experiences. The B&B is in a quiet area with lots of birds and wildlife. Such a great place to relax in the evenings. I've traveled the world and have rarely enjoyed a place so much.

Room Tip: They're all great rooms. You can't go wrong, no matter which one you select.

I had a wonderful experience "Down by the River." Mike and Angie were great hosts and served gourmet type breakfasts. The room was spacious and comfortable and access to a patio and living room area truly gave a homey feeling. It was in a great location for a home base for day trips. Mike had suggestions for delicious dining in town and also had suggestions for sight seeing.

Room Tip: Each room has it's own theme so check out the website, but every room is large. Mike gave us a t...

We spent 2 nights here with very dear friends. Our experience was a 100% success. Mike and Angie are wonderful hosts, welcoming, personable and generous with themselves as well as with their gracious hospitality and amazing gourmet breakfasts. They have created a B&B with upscale ambience. Their furnishings of beautiful antiques and Southwestern memorabilia create a comfortable as well as interesting setting that is inviting and relaxing. We highly recommend Down By the River B&B. John and Cathy

I chose this B & B from the great pictures on their website. I stay pretty exclusively in B & B's when I travel, so I've come to understand that the pictures are usually a bit better than the reality. But this place was such a pleasant surprise. The rooms are so spacious and the attention to detail in the decorating is amazing. Every part of the house has something beautiful to admire. Mike and Angie couldn't have been better hosts. They were warm and welcoming and gave us great ideas about what to do in the area. Thanks to Mike's advise to visit Whitewater Draw, we were fortunate to see a female Great Horned Owl on her nest! This was a great trip with my grown-up daughter and I cannot wait to visit again for a romantic weekend with my guy.

Room Tip: We loved the Bird Room. Double Sinks definitely helped me and my daughter when getting ready to go...
