“Very interesting tour of the missile silo.”

Only one left with a missile in place. Just no war head! Museum and lecture are interesting. Gift shop OK.

“Titan missile of the great ICBM era!”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

This the last real ICBM from the big missile race of the 60"s and 70's. You actually get to see the whole underground control room, an actual titan missile (with the nuclear warhead removed) and how it operated. Also how much electronisc has advanced since 1960.

“Glad we never had to deploy the Titan Missiles, or we would not be here today.”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

The Titan Missile Museum was quite interesting. It was amazing to hear about the conditions existing during the Cold War. Our guide picked a couple teenagers out of the crowd to serve as the Captain and Lieutenant of the launch team. We then saw a simulated launch of the Titan Missile. It is incredibly scary that if these missiles had been launched, they would have hit their target in about 35 minutes. So, in a little more than a half hour, the major targets in both the United States and the USSR would have been destroyed. One of the other stories told by our guide is that IF the missiles had been deployed, the crew would have had 30 days of food in the bunker, but only about 14 days of oxygen. The crew would have had to make a choice... die of asphyxia or try to use the escape hatch to go into what might have been a highly radioactive world.

“Cold War relic reminds of scary era in U.S. history”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

We took friends to visit this museum a short drive south of Tucson. This is a must-see for those who want to learn about this historic era and its worrisome possibilities. We took the "Beyond the Blastdoor" tour which occurs the first and third Saturdays of each month and which includes a half hour class at its end for those wanting more background on the various missiles up until present day. Our speaker was a former military crew member who awaited the dreaded call . . . All in our group found all the museum displays and the talk at the end interesting and worthwhile. Our guides were clear and informative. Part of each tour occurs outside where the temperature might be a factor for some during our hot summer months. Lots of stairs, but an elevator is available to some portions of the missile silo. This was a unique Arizona experience, for sure.

“A great look into history”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Loved the museum and the ability to see an actual missile. I would have given it five starts had the volunteers been more friendly.
