The Olive Mill at Queen Creek is an interesting diversion with a fine cafe and themed gift shop--somewhere different to have a lunch and learn a bit. The grove was started a decade ago and has increased in scope and size. You see the modern olive mill which produces the oil and hear about how it is done with the opportunity to purchase varieties of the final product afterward. The Food Network has highlighted their sandwiches and America's Dirtiest Jobs has included cleaning out the olive press. Be sure to buy some of the Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar at the end, as well as a sample of the many varieties of Olive Oils they sell in medium sized bottles. (You can sample their taste before buying) They have a moderate amount of themed items in their gift shop, as well as olive relishes and preserves. The setting is nothing fancy--a modern steel building. But the tour lecture was intelligent and complete and the trip memorable.
