The Olive Mill at Queen Creek is an interesting diversion with a fine cafe and themed gift shop--somewhere different to have a lunch and learn a bit. The grove was started a decade ago and has increased in scope and size. You see the modern olive mill which produces the oil and hear about how it is done with the opportunity to purchase varieties of the final product afterward. The Food Network has highlighted their sandwiches and America's Dirtiest Jobs has included cleaning out the olive press. Be sure to buy some of the Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar at the end, as well as a sample of the many varieties of Olive Oils they sell in medium sized bottles. (You can sample their taste before buying) They have a moderate amount of themed items in their gift shop, as well as olive relishes and preserves. The setting is nothing fancy--a modern steel building. But the tour lecture was intelligent and complete and the trip memorable.

This is a great destination for an informative tour of a working olive mill. The in-house restaurant is excellent. They make and sell lots of different-flavored olive oils, including chocolate and every so often someone will come out of the kitchen with freshly-baked breads. You can also order their olive oils on-line, but then you'd miss the restaurant and the bread!

I recently visited The Olive Mill with my cousin & her husband. They recommended I come for the Tour after they had been on one. It's inexpensive, $5, but so very interesting. I found out why olive trees do so well in the AZ dry climate. Also how they process the olives here. The whole tour was very informative and our guide was lively & amusing. There were a lot humorous comments in her delivery.
We also ate a delicious lunch at the Mill. There are a lot of olive products to purchase; including cupcakes! Lunch is a bit on the pricey side, but the food is all fresh and there are some very innovative choices. I highly recommend this attraction. Possibly for teens & adults. I don't know if young kids would be as interested.

Just the best combination of great food and interesting environment. the olives are grown and the oils are made right at the queeen creek location. you can eat inside and shop around looking and tasting all their great samples. there is a nice picnic area set up outside where you can eat and enjoy the beautiful arizona weather. this area is only a short drive (about 9 miles) from the east valley. well worth the short drive ... enjoy
