Owner description: Lynx Lake is one of the most popular recreation areas in central Arizona. Mild weather, the cool ponderosa pine forest, a serene 55-acre lake, trout fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, archaeological sites, and bird watching attract visitors from throughout Arizona.

Campground was absolutely beautiful, weather was great and people were nice. The only problem we had was the first night we saw flashlight in camp around 11pm after being in bed went out to investigate but scared someone off. Then around midnight the truck alarm started chirping to go off so I figured he either lean on the truck grabbed the door handle or got on bumper to set it off. By the time I got out of bed again and dressed no one. I did hit the trucks panic button a short time so that might have done it. Next several nights no problems everything was secured even better. Camp host said this has been a problem since they are so close to the road and it also happens at all campgrounds. Just make sure before you go in for the nite everything is secure , like a valued generator, fishing poles, lanterns, bbq's and etc. the host said to me. Other than that everything was great and I'd go again.

I'm in Prescott several times a year and always go here. The boat rentals are fun and there is a very nice walking path around the entire lake. Part of it is dirt, but easy to walk. This is a beautiful lake and has camping and a restaurant with pretty good German food.

The setting is lovely, the lake is peaceful, lots of birds, the cottonwoods are majestic, and the trails inviting! Though visit often it's always a first time wonder!

Our group has camped in many places in AZ and Lynx Lake is one of the nicest. We had #9 in B Loop which is one of a few double sites meaning 10 people and more vehicles. The sites are dirt/gravel, smooth, flat, nice fire ring. Wood at the store was $10 for a decent sized bundle. B loop has the only flushing toilets which the ladies liked.
Next time we will try for one of three double sites that has a large, metal ramada. Loop B has one, #5 which is our first choice. After that the other two with a ramada are 19 and 31. We would also go back to 9 or to 22.
I also toured Hilltop Campground which is just down the road. If I couldn't get into Lynx I would choose 27, 14, 18 in that order.
Having a snack at the store would be an option as well as boat rentals.
Also Prescott is very close.

When we can't decide where to go hiking, we seem to end up at the Lynx Lake Recreation Area.
Easy to find, follow the sign off Rt 69 .. there are miles and miles of trails in the area. If you are a beginner hiker, the trail around the lake is paved and a nice easy walk. You can stop at the Lynx Lake Cafe for a bite to eat, rent a canoe or kayak and have an enjoyable day on the lake.
For the more adventurous, there are trails that wind up and down through the surrounding mountains and offer amazing views of the area. A nice place to cool off and get out of the summer sun, since the pine trees are everywhere!
Also visit the Highlands Center while in the area.
We are not campers but the camp grounds look really nice as well.

If you plan on spending a lot of time in the Prescott Forest, consider buying a parking pass to save money. We are over 60 and got a lifetime senior pass for only $10.00!
