In a city full of excellent steak houses, Donovan's stand out! The steaks are wonderful - without the extra sauces and loads of butter (and calories) that many restaurants add. The meat is seasoned perfectly and does not require those "extras." Try the large filet. It has a perfect texture, lots of flavor and it's big enough to share. In addition, your choice of potato and a vegetable are included in the price of the steak, rather than as an ala carte item.
Of course, Donovan's is known for their delectable lamb chop appetizer. Split an order of four chops, dip the amazing lamb into the ranch dressing (yes, I said ranch dressing) that's served inside a hollowed-out baked potato and enjoy!
Finally, the ambiance is terrific - full of dark wood, comfortable seating and impeccable service. And even when every table is taken, it's still quiet enough to have a friendly conversation without shouting.
I've been to most - if not all - of the Phoenix steak houses, but Donovan's is definitely my favorite!
