We spent 8 nights in this hotel while attending the General Assembly of our church at the convention center. The hotel is located on the fringes of downtown Phoenix, and while nothing bad happened to us, the area is somewhat deserted and little scary after dark, especially if you are walking alone. We chose to walk to the convention center each day, and while it took us only 15-20 minutes each way, it seemed twice as long in the Phoenix heat.
The hotel itself, which appeared to be run by a husband and wife who lived in a suite behind the office, was recently renovated and our room was very comfortable, including the beds. The room was also reasonably clean and of a decent size. The price was great at just over $71, average per night, including tax. This was the agreed upon price when we made our reservation three months prior, but when we arrived, the wife tried to charge us a slightly higher rate. We complained, and the husband told his wife to honor the original rate, which she did.
But, our biggest complaint was the maid service. One night, we returned to our room at 9:30 PM, and found that our room had not been made up. The following morning, we spoke to the wife, who called the maid to the office while we were still there. The maid had signed our room off on the daily work sheet and said that she thought that she had made it up (but obviously she had not). After that our room was made up every day, but on a couple of occasions, the maid shorted us on towels and water cups.

Like many other reviewers, we stayed here because we were in town for a conference at the Convention Center, for which we were on our own nickel. So the price was great. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was great. They put in a roll away for our mother-in-law for the one night she stayed with us. As in many of these budget accommodations, the internet service is free, and worked very well. I have often had a hard time with wifi which i PAY FOR in the big and fancy hotels.
There was also a refrigerator and microwave, though we did not cook anything in the room. the TV was great. The bed was so comfy, we asked about the manufacturer. And the staff provided us with that info as well as the model number. It is a Denver Mattress company king-size.
We got a free shuttle to and from the airport, but you must reserve 24 hours ahead.
They stored our luggage all day in the tiny office, which was really nice. We came back late, around 9 pm, after checking out in the morning, for our free shuttle to catch the red-eye.
Very professional and accommodating.
After the first day, we decided it was just as easy to walk to the Convention Center as to take the trolley which is 3 blocks towards the center. It was hot, but make sure you have water with you.
did i mention free morning coffee and breakfast treats? And that when we turned off the AC during the day, the staff turned it on for us before we came back.

My freind Evelyn and I shared room116 at America's Best Value Inn in Phoenix downtown. It was only 3 long blocks from the light rail which we used every day to get to and from the Convention Center. It was clean, well maintained and had a very nice breakfast. In addition, there was a shuttle to and from the airport included. It was the very best value I could find online..

Room Tip: This facility has two floors and no elevator.

I only travel once a year for a professional conference. My best friend Gail and I stayed the week. We enjoyed our morning 8-blocks walk to the Convention Center. What's nice about Phoenix is, it's always a sunny day. Sam and his wife were gracious and made us feel at home. They adjusted the room to be fragrance-free to accommodate allergies. When we return to the Phoenix area, bringing our families, we will stay here. We told my sister in Buckeye, to let her guests coming into AZ, know this is a grand place to stay when visiting the capital city. Best of all for a Registered Dental Hygienist, the entire property was cigarette free; A breath of fresh air. Only down side is AZ is very hot in June & there is no pool. I knew that information before making reservation.

I was in the Phoenix area attending class nearby.

Very kind, and courteous help from the office!.I would recommend a stay there, but please note that there is no swimming pool, nor restaurant at hotel..I also had a little problem with the wi-fi. There is a lovely fresh complimentary continental breakfast every morning, however.

Room Tip: The room had a microwave and a small refrigerator, too, so great value!
