“Great surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

Wow we were blown away by this hotels customer service. We stayed here on our way to Maui and quite frankly didn't expect much. David Franco one of guest service reps picked us up at airport-- very promptly offered bottle water and was so personable. When we got to the hotel there was an upgrade available-- what a nice surprise. We ate there since this was just a stop over stay everything from the food to he service was excellent! What a great way to begin our vacation. Courtyard is also very well done !

I stayed two nights in this hotel while on business trip. The room was very nice and comfortable. Maybe it was just my room, but even being close to the airport - it was nice and quiet. There was a balcony overlooking the pool, which I thought was a nice touch. The staff was fantastic from check in, having breakfast, and afternoon drinks. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Loved my room... it was on the 4th floor....

Hi S_MadisonsMom,

Thank you so much for your review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip while in Phoenix and were plesantly surprised with our hotel eventhough we are near the airport. We think we're in a perfect location being close to the airport and near all of the activity in Downtown Tempe. Thank you so much for staying with us and we hope to see you during your next trip to Phoenix!

Your night auditor Elaine was just wonderful to work with! My good friend was stranded at 1am by an airline at the PHX Airport. After trying 3 different hotels, Courtyard pulled through and assisted with a overnight reservation (after 12am). I'm a Director of Sales and I can't praise your staff enough for their great customer service we both received last night. She dispatched the airport shuttle immediately and my friend was able to check in within minutes. For someone traveling 10hrs in one day, a clean/comfortable room/bed and a hot shower was priceless (even if it was for 3.5hrs!). Thank you to everyone involved!

Hi Mobilebeachgirl,

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments about Elaine. I'm so happy that she was able to take care of your friend when she was stranded here in Phoenix. We know how frustrating to not make it on a flight so we do our best to make certain our guests are taken care of. We hope to see you and your friend again on an intended visit to Phoenix!

I, along with traveling companions had booked two rooms at this hotel on an afternoon of delayed and cancelled airline flights. We had no hope of continuing our trip past Phoenix due to weather wreaking havoc with schedules. But at 8:00pm, upon arrival at PHX, and after spending a very long day in airports, we found a flight available to take us to our final destination, so, with little hope, I called the hotel, knowing it was way past the deadline for cancellations, and explained we didn't need the rooms and a bit about our trying day. The staff were very kind, and to my surprise, took it upon themselves to get management clearance to cancel our reservations without penalty! I have lost money before at hotels because of last minute travel snafus, but the Courtyard by Marriott at Phoenix airport was not added to that list, though they had every right to charge us for a night's stay.
So, I can't tell you about the rooms, cleanliness, or anything else about the hotel, but based on their staff, I will certainly plan to stay here at my next opportunity!

Hello Andy 1909,

Thank you so much for your kind note! I appreciate you taking the time to write about our front desk associates. We know that holiday travel can be extremely stressful and with the recent weather, flights have been cancelled and delayed. I'm proud that our team cancelled your reservation when you were able to get on another flight without any penalty. We hope to see you in Phoenix upon your next visit!

If you stay here be sure to ask for a room facing the pool, since each of the rooms have a sliding glass door leading outside to a balcony, the pool or gravel even the ground floor. My room was ground level leading to gravel and a street. I heard planes all night. I think it would be quieter and more secure if I was facing the pool. There is a small fridge in the room and bottles if water but they are $3.50 to purchase. There is free shuttle service to and from the airport and to downtown Tempe. They have a very limited selection of food at the coffee bar/bistro but it is pricey. There are no restaurants or convenience stores close by. The front desk/shuttle driver and housekeeping staff were great! The service at the coffee station was not, it was as if I was a bother to her. If your lucky enough to have won big money in the lottery, this is your hotel. The Arizona Lottery office is across the parking lot.

We often use this hotel when traveling by air out of Phoenix airport. It is a Marriott property so the quality is always reliable, dependable, and never disappoints. Four floors high, nice grounds, famous high-quality beds and bedding, full range of services (gym, laundry, pool, outdoor fire pits, etc.)and courteous staff makes this a win-win for us. A new change this year is the in-house Starbucks café set up in the lounge instead of the Marriott buffet breakfast we've had there in the past.. Not sure if it is an improvement or not, it's just different.

Our suite came equipped with a microwave and mini-frig. It was spacious, with a separate bedroom, and very clean and oh-so comfortable (it's a Marriott, after all). The neighborhood is very walkable, it is set in a business/industrial park with loads of green belts all around.

The facility participates in the Park and Fly program.

Room Tip: High floors are quieter but there will be plane noises.

Stayed here after a week long trip to Phoenix,Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Rooms were quite clean and well decorated. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The shuttle was timely and efficient - we would stay again if we are ever in the Phoenix area again!
