This property is among the most beautiful I have ever visited. This historic hotel has traditional rooms, individual casitas and villas. We stayed in a casita with spectacular decor and amenities. There are no bad rooms. The casitas offer a bit more privacy though. The architectural details, works of art and general ambiance of the property transports you to Mexico in another time. The view of Camelback Mountain is gorgeous. The service was equally great. Attentive and highly professional. The general atmosphere is laid back. The signature restaurant was closed for renovation but will soon reopen with a new menu, new decor and new regular live music. As locals, this was a "staycation" for us. For people visiting the area, I highly recommend this property. Its close to Scottsdale, downtown, golf and good hiking (not in summer!). I am looking forward to the new mixologist and restaurant.

Staff was amazing & at my service 2 accommodate my needs. They were quick to comp me in my unfortunate circumstances, but after a 4 day stay, this became a pain for both myself and the staff, as it was 1 thing after another. Unfortunately this place was a disaster! Place under construction, smoke alarms firing off, bugs in room, ordered food & 90 mins later find out it never went through. 24 hour pool with no towels " they ran out " expired beer in room fridge. The restaurant was closed ( we were never informed prior 2 booking ) so the only dinner choices for 4 days were steak OR salmon! Literally 2 dinner choices!!! VERY limited menu, with very little staff. We always waited at least an hour to get our order. Maybe after they complete construction & hire more employes this place with be amazing, but the lack of staff, infestation of bugs in my room and the disorganization is enough for me not to return ESPECIALLY bc the prices are very high, so you'd expect that this place would be cleaner then your local motel 6

My partner and I needed a get away where we could unwind relax and be pampered for a long weekend
We selected the Royal Palms from trip advisor reviews and pics. From the moment we arrived we realized that we had made the right choice. The staff excelled at making us feel at home comfortable and relaxed. Our private villa was perfect spotless and the bed amazing
The housekeeping staff was beyond amazing always keeping up with our needs without asking.
The pool was lovely and intimate and again the staff excelled at learning what we liked and anticipated our every need
This is a place that is truly magical and rejuvenating -the grounds are spectacular and perfectly manicured
I can not say enough about the staff at this hotel

This is a lovely property with gorgeous grounds. We expected to feel indulged and soak up the ambiance this weekend, but the staff made us feel almost like intruders, or second class citizens - presumeably b/c we were there in the summer when rates were lower? I don't know, but from start to finish it was definitly not the 5 star experience we are used to at other properties. Beginning with check in, when they charge $30 extra to check into your room at 12:00 instead of 2:00 (and the room is ready, not like they need to rush anything or put someone out. We were told the hotel was 60% occupancy). This was a real shock. Then, we expressed confusion at being far apart from our friends' room, yet no one offered to get us differnent accomodations near to each other. The pool food service was slow (but nice server), water was not frequently replenished even though it was so hot and few people at the pool; one rail guard into pool was missing, too. Dinner was awful: we were told - strongly encouraged by concierge - to dine at Cervantes Bistro, which supposededly was the same chef at T. Cooks (which was closed). Menu was same as the pool menu (!!!!), with 2 added items: salmon and flat iron steak. Nothing interesting, nothing tasted very good or fresh, and service was horrible!!!!! We had a birthday celebration, even commented on it several times, and they did nothing special, not even SAYING Happy Birthday! The following day we were interrupted not once in the early morning, but twice by housecleaning, who apparently did not know we were checking out, and didn't communicate this after being informed the first time. Breakfast was a disgrace for a hotel of this calibur: sub-par and unexciting buffet for an overpriced $20. Overcharged on the bill, too. If the closure of T. Cook's caused this much disruption in food and service, then they should not attempt to provide food service at all, and inform guests before booking this property. Front desk would not accomodate an hour later check out, so we booked an early flight home. Royal Palms should not be open for summer travellers if they are going to make guests feel like an inconvenience and less important than winter guests. We enjoy staying at lovely properties, but will never return to Royal Palms.

Luxury, serenity, great service, beautifully lush setting, and lovely accommodations make this a wonderful place to stay in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area. Our son and family had a spacious, well designed room near the pool that comfortably accommodated the three of them. My husband and I had a casita but were upgraded to a gorgeous villa (#121) after a plumbing problem in the casita's bathroom. It is important to note that the plumbing problem appeared to be due to some cables being laid on the public road and that we were graciously moved within minutes of reporting the problem. The villa had two large patios, one with a completely private outdoor shower. The bathroom had two sinks, claw foot tub, double rain shower, plenty of towels, full length mirror, digital scale, robes, slippers, and lovely bath products. The toilet and bidet were in a separate room. The large living room easily seated 5 and had a flatscreen TV, iPod doc, and CD player. The bedroom with king size bed had a round fireplace and flatscreen TV as well as charging stations on the nightstands. The wood and slate floors were comfortable and contributed to the open, clean feeling of the villa. Shutters on all of the windows and doors could be fully opened or closed to let in or block the light. For those who travel with a lot of baggage, there was a walk-in closet with safe. We had only one meal at Cervantes Bistro, the stand-in during the remodel of T. Cookes. The brunch was good with everything well prepared and beautifully served on an outdoor patio. Like most resorts, the brunch was expensive. We used the pool everyday. It was quiet (not really a children's pool) and well tended with options for shade, sun, or sun with mist. A small cafe serves drinks and light meals. In addition to the beautiful property and setting, every staff member was thoughtful, friendly, and helpful. The valets, bellmen, and reception staff went out of their way to see that our stay was a real vacation.

Room Tip: The villa (#121) was perfect. The casitas on the Arcadia side are about to undergo renovation, so request one that is renovated or go for a villa or regular room.
