“Excellent Service ... Standard Room ... But ...”
Reviewed December 22, 2013

I stay at Motel 6 not infrequently - when all I'm looking for is some place cheap and clean. I chose this motel because of its location and price - cheaper than other Motel 6's in this part of the Phoenix area.

My check-in was handled by a very personable, efficient young man who, quite honestly, was probably the best staff person I've ever run into at a Motel 6 anywhere. He was cordial, helpful, enthusiastic (but not obnoxious), and really seemed to enjoy his job. He was also the first one to ever advise me that, being an AARP member, in addition to the AARP discount (10%, which I knew about), I'd also receive free wi-fi and have a 2pm checkout. Interesting. I never knew that, even after many stays at Motel 6. Bottom line -> I would hire him in an instant to work the front desk at any hotel - he was that good.

The rooms at this motel are the standard Motel 6 stock-issue - not upgraded, as rooms at some other properties have been. My room - a single bedded room - lacked the small side table that is standard in most single Motel 6 rooms, creating a bit of unused space that made the room feel a bit weird. Everything else was standard Motel 6. The bathroom had a combo shower-tub unit, and the shower delivered a good stream of hot water.

The only issue is that the blanket on the bed was in pretty bad shape, with cigarette burns, stains, and a lot of wear and tear. I don't usually run into such things when I stay at Motel 6 - perhaps I'm just one of the lucky ones - but this time, it was real cruddy. That blanket needed to be thrown out and replaced, but other than that, the room was very clean, as were the linens on the bed, and the bed delivered a comfortable night's rest.

The neighborhood isn't bad, but as a low-cost motel, it does seem to attract a wide spectrum of guests. I didn't feel unsafe there, but I did stay quite aware of my surroundings when arriving back at the room late at night.

Plain, simple, comfortable, and cheap. Other than the soiled, burned blanket, if all you're looking for is basic accommodations, this fills the bill.

This place is satisfactory for a Motel 6, but I was staying for the weekend warned and almost expereinced no maid service, because I dared to ask the maid to come back a bit later. The head maid is not friendly to such requests, and if I had out off service for more than a half hour, would not have got it at all that day. This was advised by the front desk.

Otherwise, the place is about average or better for an urban Motel 6. Coffee was good, but I wish they provided shampoo in the room!

The staff at this motel 6 are great. We have stayed here a couple of times due to group bookings and I am not a fan of Motel 6 but the location is good (near shopping centers, Target, Five Guys) and the staff there are really nice. If you need a place to stay and just stopping through I would give this place a try.

For a Motel 6, this property was wonderful to get a good sleep, shower, and hit the road. The very late night check in was handled swiftly and cheerfully. The room was clean and in good working order. The bathroom was very clean and working properly. I did not hear any commotion during the night. Parking is right by your room. The Motel 6 was the best of both worlds, reasonably priced and in good working condition for the value.
If you need a place to sleep before your early flight out of Sky Harbor, this is the place to be.

I stayed at this Motel 6 last October, while waiting to move into my apartment. Staff was friendly, and room was clean, but after driving 13 hours to Phoenix, I was looking forward to getting a good night sleep. Well, I was very wrong. The room right next to mine, had visitors going in and out starting at 2am, all the way until 9am. That would have been fine, as I am usually a solid sleeper. But the outrageously loud sex noises, and constant bed creaking kept me from getting any kind of sleep. First night was a bummer. I can deal with that. But, the porn star in the room next door kept it going for 3 nights in a row. I know that Van Buren is a common area for prostitution, and judging by the White Lincoln Continental sitting on 24 inch rims that was there every night, i'm sure thats what was going down. Also, I left my drivers license in the room when I checked out, and after calling about it 3 times, they told me that it wasn't there, which I know for a fact that it was. Wifi is a joke. And air conditioner sounds like a jet engine. My reccomendation would be that if you're looking for an inexpensive stay, Motel 6 is great, just don't stay at this one.

No fancy amenities but ... clean, inexpensive, safe, quiet, and convenient to the Zoo, ASU, airport, etc. The staff was pleasant, the pool was refreshing, and the price was right.
