Reviewed May 18, 2010

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a night after our plane was delayed because of bad weather. The airline got us a nice discount and our room was big and clean with a comfortable bed. We were gone the next morning, so that's really all we wanted. The free breakfast was a nice cherry on top.

Arrived last night for 2 night stay after midnight. The cost for two nights is $300. Since early this morning there has been a lot of construction noise. The hotel is very dated, but clean. I think this is the saddest Embassy Suites I have ever stayed in...really needs a facelift. The breakfast was ok, but nothing to get excited about. We have not seen the maid so we raided her cart parked just outside our door for clean towels, made our own bed....self service? When I have the opportunity I generally stay at an Embassy Suites, just stayed at the Miami Airport one about a week ago and the two hotels are worlds apart. This is more like a Days Inn than an Embassy, certainly not up to Embassy Suites standards one would expect. Not a good value for the price I paid and I would not stay here again.

I stayed here for a week while in Phoenix for business, and really don't have any big complaints. No, it's probably not quite as nice as many other Embassy suites - the building is a bit older, and the furnishings in the rooms could be updated. But overall it's a comfortable, clean hotel with the great Embassy Suites breakfast, and a very welcome "Manager's Reception" every weeknight at the hotel bar/ restaurant on the top floor. The staff were always helpful and nice, and the pool area was better than expected. If I have one gripe, it's that they charge $11 per night for internet access. That is really puts them at a disadvantage these days with most hotels offering free internet.

Thank you for your response. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with Embassy Suites Phoenix Airport @ 24th St. and look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Phoenix. Although we do charge for internet, we do offer the nightly Managers Reception with compimetary beverages including beer, wine, and mixed drinks along with a Cooked to Order breakfast where orders are placed for our famous omelettes each morning.

Like other reviewers, we felt that this particular Embassy Suites is not really up to the standards of the chain. If this is your first Embassy Suites experience, you might be afraid to try another. Don't be fooled: every other Embassy Suites we have ever stayed at is well worth the price. We stayed at this one for a stopover on our drive back to L.A. after Christmas. The pluses: the hotel is close to I-10 (via the 51 freeway); the bedroom was huge; the bed, pillows, sheets and blankets were very comfortable; our room had a small balcony that we could step out on; and the breakfast was tasty.

The minuses: the sofabed and living room that became our teen son's room were both very small as was the bathroom; there was only one cook making eggs, pancakes, potatoes, and french toast; the coffee maker was broken but got fixed just as my wife finished her breakfast; and the parking lot is small. Oh, and you still have to pay for Internet access: it cost us an extra $5 when we booked the room online at the Hilton website.

We did not make the manager's reception on the fifth floor as we were out to dinner at Cracker Barrel (a good twelve miles away), so I can't comment on that. However, our son wanted to use the spa, but it was under renovation (the website said it the renovation was to be completed two weeks before our stay). The front desk clerk told our son that a shuttle could transport him to a nearby Hilton or Embassy Suites and he could use that pool, but we put a kabash on that plan: who wants to travel from one hotel to another on the airport shuttle wearing a wet swim suit???? (My guess is, besides our son, NOBODY!)

So for $100 dollars we got some comfort and a decent breakfast (after a 20 minute wait in line), a bedroom that could fit four beds, a living room that could fit four people and a bathroom that could only fit a four-year old.

Definitely an older property.

The positives:
-Nice workout / gym facility. The ceiling was a bit low however. Sounds strange but you almost hit your head when you are using the elliptical machine or using freeweights in certain ways. Yes there are free weights, treadmills and elliptical machines. Nice cable crossover machine as well.

- Updated rooms. Flat screen tvs. Wet bar, dorm size refrigerator and microwave. Free Internet, complimentary (tip them!) breakfast and managers reception in the evening (tip them)

-Pool and hot tub are open year round. Bring your suit!

Negatives: I heard quite a bit of noise from my neighbor upstairs and a bit on the interior balconies. The HVAC system has either A/C or Heat depending on the time of year and average temperatures. Management turns it on or off for the whole property. While the rooms have been updated there are some things that were neglected... Older fixtures in the bathroom. Older showerhead...borderline gross as far as lime and scale buildup. Older wall units / dressers. There is a bit of traffic outside the hotel and my room (half the hotel) faces a taller office building.

I am recommending this hotel...however i may shop around and see if there are any other properties around. It is by far not one of the nicer properties that i would expect Hilton to have (Let alone Embassy Suites.)

Have stayed here 100+ nights. Biggest plus is the staff is incredible! Even though this is an older property they have replaced all carpet, all TVs with flat panels, and re-coated the deck around the pool since I arrived. The made to order breakfasts are wonderful and the manager's reception is a welcome plus at the end of the day. I recommend it highly especially if you are on an extended stay.

I chose this Hotel because it offered 24 hr. shuttle service to the Airport.
The swimming pool and spa were great with a garden like shady atmosphere. Evening Mgr. reception with Cocktails was an added bonus.
Breakfast was superb with entertaining Chefs to make my omelets. But the
most exceptional thing was that the Hotel offered to take us off site to
the restaurant of our choice using the Hotel shuttle. I believe that the staff went above and beyond to make our experience at their Hotel exceptional.
I would definitely recommend this Embassy Suites property.
