“Good place to stroll through”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

Free.
Good place to stroll through on a mild weathered day.
Garden is small and had homeless ppl's trash near the water fountain.
The Basillica itself is well maintained.
You walk in and there it is, be very very quiet, EVERYTHING echos.
The stainglass work is marvelous.
I didn't stay too long but it was a good place to sit and rest my legs and feet.

Gift shop downstairs which I did not visit.

I visited on a rainy day in March 1st Saturday.
If this is your sole destination, its not really worth it,
but if you're gonna see the Rosson house, Science center etc then go for it since its closeby.

“Excellent and FREE!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014

A great place to stop when you are in downtown Phoenix. The history of this church is absolutely amazing and the garden is a great place to walk through. It is shaded, filled with all different types of plants, and has a water fountain in the middle. Best of all it is free. They do have a gift shop if that interest you and amazing stained glass windows shipped by boat across seas in the early 1900's.

“Historic Catholic Cathedral”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

This 130-yr-old basilica is built over the foundation of the original 160-yr-old adobe church. Classic cathedral with rib-vault ceilings. Short visitation hours during the day, but open from 5-7 p.m. for evening prayers, too.

“A tranquil oasis in downtown”

Simple but beautiful historic church, with a vibrant parish community. A great place to stop by to refresh oneself, and a historic structure to boot.

“The Pope was here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

This is such a sweet, warm church. It's historic to Phoenix and with it's two domes outside, has a South American flavor. The best part is that Pope John Paul II was here and they have preserved the kneeler where he prayed. You can kneel there .. it's well marked. He also spoke to Phoenix from the large balcony above the outer doors. I can't go there without thinking of this great blessing! Mass every weekday at noon! Nice for travelers..
