The initial appearance of this place is umimposing but the homey atmosphere and great service were a good indicator of great Italian food to come. Plus the servers were from NY and knew their stuff. My 3 year old grandson was polite but a 3 year old and the other customers were more Mature if you know what I mean. Everyone enjoyed his antics while we ate superior veal and chicken Parm with home made pasta. Home made raviolis were great and the meatballs tasted like Mom's. Great Marinara and Bolonese sauce and great service. Mostly a locals place but worth a visit.

Italian food at it's best. The dishes are all created by Isabell who is one of the owners along with her husband Berto. This is the closest I have come to authentic Italian food after visiting Italy. Everything is delicious, from the appetizers to the dessert. We especially love the homemade Spumoni that Berto makes. It's in a cozy atmosphere with white tablecloths and superb wait staff. We try to make sure we eat there at least once a month. It's about 30 miles from our home but well worth the trip.

I had my first visit to La Fontanella on Oakley Avenue in Chicago back in February, 1973 when it had just opened. The Owners' daughter took our order and now we find she operates here in Phoenix. WHAT A GREAT FIND!
This is like going back to "The Old Neighborhood" where everyone was from Tuscany.
GREAT FOOD. GOOD PRICES. THIS IS A MUST EAT AT PLACE FOR ANYONE SEEKING TOP FLIGHT ITALIAN FOOD...THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE!

Our neighbors recommended this restaurant as a place to bring out of town friends while passing through Phoenix. We were not disappointed! Wow! It's the best Italian Food since Italy. The escargot was better than we've had in France (as promised by the waiter.) Our reservation was for 5:00 but we arrived early from San Diego and they welcomed us with open arms! We will definitely return as we frequently go through Phoenix.
