“Used to be better”
Reviewed July 24, 2010

This is a great restaurant, with good seafood. However, I recall it being much better years ago- when it got its reputation. It now has smaller portions and bigger prices. Still a great restaurant overall though- just not living up to its hype anymore.

“Best shrimp I've ever had”
Reviewed May 9, 2010

Evidently Pappadeaux is a chain/franchise. I have only eaten at the Phoenix location, so can't speak for the experience/food, etc, of the other locations.

The wait was long -- about 50 minutes. There was a nice courtyard, though, where we could sit and have a drink while we waited.

Dress: There were people there dressed to the nines...and others wearing shorts.

Different types of seating: outside on the courtyard, on the roof, inside. Without a reservation, we were only able to get inside seating.

A New Orleans-style quartet was playing music throughout the restaurant and outdoors in the courtyard.

The restaurant (at least inside) is very busy, lots of tables, lots of families, so not a quiet, intimate atmosphere -- though we never had any problem hearing each other talk unless the band was playing nearby. Inside is a very nautical style theme (with the odd addition here and there of some random elk's heads mounted on the wall).

The food. First, before you order an appetizer, know that you are going to be getting an entire small loaf of freshly made bread. We just ordered the main course.

My husband got trout -- perfectly prepared and delicious. But we both agreed that I was the hands-down 'winner': I got the "Stuffed Shrimp Montage" and it was INCREDIBLE. The shrimp were enormous and were stuffed with crabcake/seafood stuffing. Heaven.

Our waiter was busy, but very friendly. Most entrees were in the $20-$30 range.

Overall: great food, fun ( not cozy or quiet!) atmosphere.

“Great Food, Great Service, Great Time”
Reviewed April 12, 2010

This is a great restaurant with large portions and a solid wait staff. A perfect place for appetizers and drinks. They have a seafood fondue to die for and the best coconut shrimp I've ever had. The hosts can be a little silly, as they tried to sandwich uis into too small of a table, but that was quickly rectified and our check total more than covered it. The entrees may seem a little expensive, but I would never recommend going cheap on seafood. The wait staff and cooks are willing to customize almost anything. Again, can't say enough about the food. Tasty, correct temperatures, special requests. Don't miss a chance to dine here.
