This was truly an evening out for me. The restaurant is 58 years old and a staple for the business people of Phoenix. The food is a little expensive but it is delicious which makes up for the price. The servers were great. My water glass was never empty. The entrance is through the kitchen which adds a bit of character to the place. My only complaints are the small stalls in the bathroom and the fact that we can't use cell phones ,but people can bring their crying babies. When you pay a lot for a meal you don't need to hear babies crying. But overall I enjoyed the evening.

Just had lunch at Durants and came away disappointed and a little depressed.

Decades long customer.

Had what I've had for special lunches there for years, shrimp cocktail, ceasar salad, the french dip sandwich.

Still good quality beef but much smaller and the roll was horrible, subway has better bread.

What appeared to be frozen fries and skimpy au jus.

Not worth the price. This used to be the best french dip in town!

Shrimp cocktail was rubbery and caesar salad has slipped to ordinary.

Service good.

Will try again because of long standing love for this place.

I know times are tough for the restaurant business BUT cutting quality is much worse than raising prices, which are already high.

Wake up quickly Mgt. please! Or Durant's, that venerable Phoenix institution, will go the way of the Dodo!

First let me say their prices are through the roof. Every time we go in the prices have gone up. Such a bad value for what is served. I've been going to Durant's for a long time and I am officially done. The servers just aren't very polite, are not any good, and they act like you are bothering them. Unfortunately the food isn't good either. The meat is tough and flavorless. Not what you expect from a steakhouse. They have a great bar it's fun but the drinks are so expensive. The bread was served cold and the quality of the food is not there. The steaks are overpriced as is the seafood and who charges $20 plus tax for a Cobb salad with mixed greens out of a grocery store lettuce bag? I have to say they need a reality check on their prices. Maybe if they would lower them they would have some business. The place was dead. It's sad and unfortunate that what used to be a real gem has changed. I've been disappointed the last three visits. I won't be returning.

This restaurant is a top place to visit in 'The Valley of the Sun' if you want a classic steak house experience with stiff drinks, classic appetizers, huge cuts of beef and horseradish that will raise the roof. I 'strongly' recommend reservations, yet arriving early can prove for a fun bar experience. The shrimp cocktail and prime rib should not be overlooked. Please note: regular patrons enter through the back of the restaurant and walk through the kitchen - do not enter by way of their door on Central Avenue. I have been a patron (when in the Phoenix area) for ten years and the quality is consistent. Worth the price.

I took my wife here side she has never been. The service was great the food was awesome. It was a very nice change of pace to go out for a nice romantic dinner. I would highly recommend Durant's to anyone that wants an upscale restaurant.
