This is a must stop every time we come out to from Chicago. Not sure how we even first found it when it opened but I'm glad we did. So many good things on the menu. This was the first time I didn't get the cheesecake dessert but I have the recipe so I make it all the time. Look forward to coming back. Great wine list.

Upon entering welcomed by nice smiles. Nice décor low lights, windows look out at parking lot but you can see a few mountains and have nice lights outside. Tables were close but far enough not to hear other conversation. They did have 3 circular booths. Nice bar area overlooking the great open kitchen and popular for small bites and cocktails. Have a very nice wine menu with favorites, half bottles, wines by the glass and nice bar drinks. Nice fusion menu, a few all American dishes with fusion, other dishes are Mark Tarbells creations. Remember he is an Iron Chef and it is all about flavor. Good selection of items and specials for the day including their Mr Fish special. Started with the stuffed mushroom squash blossoms tempura. very yummy with great pureed squash, scallions and zucchini. Also had the rack of lamb cooked perfectly with, fava bean puree, carrot vinagrette, squash, mousseron mushrooms, potato cakes. Had the Mr Fish special of the day which is seared halibut, pureed sun dried tomato, avocado, asparagus, wild mushrooms, very tender fish. For dessert had the chocolate mousse with Guittard Chocolate very creamy and yes very rich and the Southern bread pudding with Kentucky Bourbon Sauce, just wanted to get the spoon and drink that sauce up. Staff is right there for you, matre d/manager comes around often, very hospitable. Upon leaving , the hostess handed us each a small sweet dream pack of Mark's popcorn with special flavors for the ride home. Only downfall was the rest room that needed clean up. Would have liked to see the current menu on their website. Was hoping to get the wood fired octopus that was on the on line menu but not available. There are seasonal change on the menu. It is not a super large place so reservations are highly recommended. Plenty of space in the parking lot on a Sunday night but other times they have valet.

Dined here with a colleague last night and everything from start to finish was superb! The food was creative and delicious, the wine list very complete, and the service was excellent! This is the model for how a great restaurant should be run.

Went to Tarbell's last week while we were in Phoenix. The place is another strip mall gem, and when we walked in, it was packed and it had the humm going that invited excitement.
I had the purple kale salad with raisins and a dressing to die for. My pan roasted chicken had to have been brined because it was so tender and flavorful.
Good service (thank you, Nathan) and an attractive interior. I don't think you can go wrong choosing this venue.
Only blemish was dessert. I had profiteroles that were not prepared a la minute. The crust was as tough as a 75 cent steak, and the filling was still refrigerator cold.
Wine list was ok, but trending toward the upper echelons of pricing.
Enjoyed it, would go back.
