Have eaten here quite often over the years, given that we r locals and not turists. Unfortunately this is another place in Scottsdale that has suffered from its success. I don't understand why maintaining the same principles that have made a place popular to begin with go out the door once popularity has been achieved. The food used to be better, the friendly staff and hostess have lost their friendliness, the owner used to be around a lot greeting the return clientele, etc., well none of the above have been sustained.
I believe that with a rebounding economy, the out of towners have returned to the area, they visit our local restaurants once, and depending on their experience may or may not return. But the restaurants r full, so why bother keeping up past standards. Which means those of us that live in Scottsdale full time stop going because we remember how good it was before.
Still love the chocolate mousse. As good as one may find in Paris or Lisbon.

Outside deceives the inside. Food is excellent as is the service. A great find for those looking for quality fresh food.

First off the food is excellent but can be a bit "Chefie" depending on your selection. If you want a quiet dinner of good food and conversation this is not the place, you can't hear yourself think. The staff does an excellent job despite the immense popularity and crowded space and it is certainly worth a visit. Don't forget your credit card it can be spendy.

Simply put, this facility served my wife the third finest meal of her lifetime. For retirees, that says it all. We went for our anniversary and came away so very impressed!

The food is perfectly prepared and presented. i started with Mussels and the serving was large enough to share with several people. The mussels were hot, soft and a joy to remove from the shell. Each was full of flavor from the wine/butter broth with fresh sprigs of herbs (thyme) and thinly shaved shallots. Perfection! Do not miss this offering!

My wife had the bacon salad, which introduced her to grilled lettuce. They bill it as "bacon candy" salad, with grilled lettuces, soft boiled egg, black pepper vinaigrette. There were other items in it as well, including artichoke heart.......and she absolutely loved it! She suggests that this is the can't miss signature dish that everyone should have. From the small bites i was able to sneak out of her plate, i too can 't wait to try this again.

She followed up with Mr. Fish, which this day was snapper. There was a pasta accompaniment and they were able to substitute gluten free pasta for her as they often have GF pasta on hand. The complex mix of flavors in this dish was something so spectacular that, along with the salad and creme brulle, made this a top dining experience for her.

I was intrigued by the idea of ground NY Strip steak ground into a burger and tried their cheeseburger with crispy fries. I asked for it rare...and that was how it arrived. Thick, grilled to perfection....full of flavor! It was wrapped in the most amazing bun. Never had its equal. I have paid much more for a burger, but never had one more delightful!

Desserts....desserts to die for! She was able to have creme brulle since it is gluten free. Theirs is made with parsnip and is so delicious! The thick sugar topping was expertly torched and was a beautiful sight. Her plate was decorated with hand written script "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate. i tried their bread pudding as i had seen it as best in the valley according to a local paper. Tall, thick, warm.....and covered with the most wonderful whiskey sauce. Hands down best i have ever been served.

My wife paired her food with the house Shiraz, 2007 Henry’s Drive “Dead Letter Office.” Wow! Great flavor and a deep warmth that comes on late. So good we shared a second glass together after the Guinness i ordered to go with my mussels and burger.

The service was impeccable. Food truly outstanding with obvious meticulous attention paid to everything that comes out of the kitchen.

Don't miss out on dining with Tarbell's. We think it is an amazing facility!!!!!!!!

I think if I went to this restaurant more often (I've been once), I'd have a better idea of what to order so that every course wasn't dripping in buttery sauces. I found the service quite good, except for a mildly snippy hostess. When the place is packed, though, as it was on the night we ate there, watch out for other diners elbows and feet- it is tight packed.
