“Excellent value”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

I have a season subscription to the Thursday matinee performances. This classy theater offers a variety of outstanding live performances at reasonable prices. Seats are comfortable and light refreshments are available.

“great central phoenix venue”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

We go to the herberger frequently as subscription members for theater. The two stages are (relative) small venue with comfortable seating and good stage visibility and acoustics. Even balcony seating ( a good price for live theater) gives you a feel for the stage and the performers. We also enjoy the rotating art on display in the second floor galleries, and the outdoor sculptures that greet you on the way to the box office. Their box office folks are friendly. There is a small wine/snack bar in the lobby. Parking is convenient as well with several nearby lots, and sometimes street parking. Do not expect a theater district, but there is a good sampling of nearby restaurants for pre or post theater.

“The best place to see a play.”

This is a beautiful place. The Chase parking across the street is the best place to park. The attendants are polite and friendly. I highly recommend.

“Not a bad seat in the house, great venue”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Been there about 3 times now. Centrally located in downtown Phoenix. Directly across from a very convenient parking garage. The theater building is modern and very nice, great sculptors outside, great art work inside. Must go to the second floor and see the great artwork. The acquostics are pretty good too, loud enough but not overwhelming. Every seat in the house has a great view of the stage and are very comfortable, although I have to say for shorter legged people there is enough leg room, otherwise you may be touching the seat in front of you with your knees. They offer a nice selection of beverages and snacks. The rest rooms are very nice and clean, however, the ladies room forms a long line at intermission. They could have thought about adding more stalls in there. The ushers tell people to go upstairs where there is another rest room, but everyone wants to remain on the floor where their seats are and ot take the stairs or elevator , so that creates the line at the rest room.

“Ewwww..." My mothers Irish, My fathers jewish... " Don't go to see!”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

Had to walk out at intermission. My friend and I were given a refund. If we had not gone right to the ticket window, then and there, we would have been out the $50 for each ticket.

Thankfully the other shows I've seen at the Herberger have been wonderful. I think this one man show was not reviewed by the Herberger staff or they would not be selling tickets to it. The show insults everyone in a non-clever, amatuerish monologue with lots of poor impersonations of different ethnic groups. I drew the line when the actor started talking about naming his body parts...and there were other crude references that can not be written about....too disgusting... That's an hour I wish I could have back!
