We purchased a "deal" return vacation after a stay there last year and were told it would be no problem to make a reservation over either the Christmas holiday or Spring break. Of course we prepaid the entire trip , a huge mistake only to find out there were no open reservations except 3 nights the end of spring break. We took that and a $200 credit which still we overpaid for what we got. I wasn't able to go due to a family situation and today my husband was told he and our daughter had to either pay $550 per night or leave. They are now going to a Fairfield inn and are very disappointed. What a way to treat customers who have platinum elite status, and own weeks in Hawaii as well as points. I'm so disappointed in the poor level of service there.

This location is wonderful. It's a very lovely "home away from home". This area of town is fairly new. You have your pick of over a dozen restaurants close to the villas. There's tons of other shopping close by (including a grocery store within a mile) and very easy access to the freeway system that will take you all over the area. Close proximity to great outdoor hiking, biking and golf. On the property there are lots of chaise lounges, chairs and places to swim so don't worry about it being over-crowded. You also have swim privileges at the JW Marriott pools and the lazy river, which is lots of fun - especially for young children.

The property upkeep is superb. The villas are very well equipped with many things in the kitchen for cooking - pots, pans, utensils, towels, etc. There is a nice washer/dryer unit which we took advantage of - so nice to not have to pack a ton of clothes when you can refresh in the middle of the week.

We do recommend bringing your own pillows as theirs were very well worn with no fluff left in them (not typical of the Marriott style). Otherwise, things were nice. Housekeeping was very efficient with bringing up fresh supplies of linens and towels. There is no charge for this service. However, if you want maid cleaning, there is a charge for that.

Disposing of garbage from your room is easy - there's a small room in each hallway with large garbage cans where you take your garbage bag. And the hotel leaves plenty of fresh garbage can liners in each garbage can in the hotel rooms. The staff takes the trash from these garbage cans frequently so everything in the area still smells clean. You will be amazed at how discreet the cleaning staff are- everything looks nice all the time!

The rooms are very comfortable. The bathroom in the master suite area was exceptional - sinks in both the bathtub area and also in the shower area. Garden tub for comfortable soaking and a large walk-in shower.

The 2nd bedroom had 2 queen size beds and a bathroom with a bathtub/shower combination with one sink and a large vanity area.

On the property there are several barbeque grills and you can borrow the barbeque tools from the front office. There are fire pits and comfortable lounge chairs and tables. We enjoyed eating outside because the weather was so nice!

For summer visitors - there is lots of covered parking at the villas, which is a huge bonus for hotel parking!

We stayed for a whole week and enjoyed every minute of our stay. On the last night, around 11 p.m. there was a (very) loud gathering at one of the fire pits by our room. We called the front desk for assistance and within minutes someone took care of the problem and the fire pits were turned off. This is too nice of a location for that type of behavior to have to be tolerated.

Room Tip: There are 3 floors at each building. There is one elevator in the middle of each building. If you wa...

We stayed seven nights at Canyon Villas, after spending the first two nights at the JW Marriott nearby. We are not Marriott owners, we found the unit on RedWeek.com and rented from an owner. We didn't pay all that much and found that, in general, Canyon Villas exceeded our expectations.

We had a ground floor unit in 2300 building. This would not have been our first choice, as we had requested being on an upper floor. But the Marriott owners get their preferences, we were there during a busy time (spring baseball season) so we were fine with not getting our first choice. Our unit was in good shape, no obvious wear and tear, well equipped and comfortable. The grounds are quite nice, the pools are great. TVs were also great, DirectTV with about 6 movie channels, appreciated.

However, we spent most of our time over at the JW Marriott pools and grounds, which are nicer. Many people have commented that the shuttle bus does not run that often. We had no trouble as we like walking, it was a maximum 10 minute walk from our Canyon Villa unit to our lawn chair by the lazy river at the Marriott. We also used the tennis center over at the JW and both fitness centers, which were small but well equipped. We also ate at the JW (expensive but great).

The mega mall is right nearby, about a 15 minute walk. We ate there a few times, shopped and took in a movie.

So again, given we got a great price, we found we got tremendous value from Canyon Villas and the nearby JW Marriott.

Room Tip: I would avoid units that are near roads and are noisier - such as 3300. I uploaded a picture of the...

My husband and I were delighted with the full kitchen, washer/dryer, bedroom with comfortable bed and best-ever huge bath tub. Our room (3005) was an end unit on the first floor that backed onto a lovely couryard with a fountain, palm trees, tables and chairs and grill. The location in north Phoenix made for a shorter trip to Sedona and the Grand Canyon and quick access to hiking in Cave Creek. The only criticisms are the poor lighting throughout the villa and the most uncomfortable living room furniture.

Room Tip: Rooms are given at check-in,despite your reqest. W e were pleased with our room anyway.

Returned from a week's stay at Marriott's Canyon Villas in Jan. The property was well maintained but we only got to enjoy the pool and public areas 1 day due to the cold spell Phoenix was having during our week there. Although I emailed our lodging preferences as requested prior to our arrival, none of our requests were met. Requested 3rd floor overlooking the golf course and close to the main pool area. We were given a 1st floor condo next to the "quiet pool" which is actually a large jacuzzi. We were as far from the main pool as you can get and overlooked a construction fence. Don't understand why they bother to ask your preferences if they don't plan to try to meet any of them, especially when they didn't seem to be full. The unit itself was a nice setup, spacious with comfortable beds. The living room sectional needed to be replaced as it was uncomfortable to sit on and had definitely seen better days! We enjoyed happy hour at the JW across the road and a few nights at the fire pit close to our room. Overall our experience was average. Didn't have much interaction with staff. We were in unit 2311 and staying as Marriott Gold members on our points which may be why we were stuck back in a less than desirable unit .

Room Tip: If you can get a 3rd floor room it would be more quiet as we could hear people above us walking arou...

We regret we were unable to honor your room requests. Unfortunately the resort was at 90% occupancy during your stay and Marriott Vacation Club owners receive first preference on room requests.

And I will return, but I'm crossing my fingers the villas are a bit more updated next time.

We put in a request for a specific building didn't get it....but I do understand "request" is just that. Our unit was on the 2nd floor and there must have been a bunch of kids on the third floor as we heard major footsteps day and night. Furniture is getting worn and dishwasher needed to be adjusted so racks roll in and out.

That said, this is a great resort with JW Marriott amenities as part of the package. There was a huge convention at the JW so property was practically empty if you dared brave the pools and lazy river in the chilly weather.

Activities as we know from previous visits were lacking a bit, but that wasn't a huge factor. We enjoyed dining at the JW and Desert Ridge shopping is a 1 mile drive or just a shuttle trip away.
White Tiger Yoga wellness was a great week long option that we would choose again. Brett was a great instructor and a super people person....even if you couldn't keep your balance. Life long lessons were a great take away benefit. Brett is the best!

Overall, we'll be back....it's a great location with a beautiful property to relax at.

Room Tip: Only a top floor....too much noise in the middle.

We just finished a week at the canyon villas. The resort is beautiful & great location. The very best part of this week ended up being the fitness classes with Brett. He was amazing. If you can, be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to attend his classes. He had a great package deal so you could go to all of them for the week. We had no intention of doing this & my husband has had 3 total hips so are always careful with what he can do. It was amazing for both of us. His classes are low impact stretching and aerobic and yoga &Tai Chi intro. We got great workouts and learned routines that we can do when we get home. Brett was Great! With a smile on his face all the time he makes learning fitness fun even when you are working up a sweat. A great way to start our day and at the end of the week go home feeling more rested mentally & physically, more fit, and a plan for fitness when we get home. All of the exercises are done with socks or barefoot and you don't need any special clothes....except a swimsuit for the water exercises if you do those.
