“I can't believe the LPGA played here...”
Reviewed July 27, 2010

I can't believe the LPGA played here. There are so many other courses that are nicer.

The pace of play on a mid-week round during July was great and price was, too. The greens were in good shape, but it was really rough around the edges.

I also didn't like the golf carts that decide to shut off if they think you are going someplace they don't want you to go. Very annoying.

The course layout is fairly interesting, though on a first time through it can be a little confusing since there are no course maps or yardage books.

I probably won't play here again on future golf trips, though I am glad I played here once.

“Nice course to play once”
Reviewed March 8, 2010

Papago is a course you play maybe once to play a course the LPGA played. Its a fairly good layout but has some weird holes. Some holes just are awkward to play but it does have its fair share of good holes. The course's fairways are in good shape but thats about it. The rough isn't in great condition and the greens are dry and tough to read.
Overall there are better courses to play for your money.

“This course SUCKS!”
Reviewed February 22, 2010

As an avid golfer now in Arizona, this is the worst course I have played.. Rolling Hills is better then this one. $49.99 to play this garbage.. I will never go back! The greens are terrible.. And their not even green.. Their brown... Hard and dry.. They had little sprouts growing out of them so the ball jumps a foot in the air when you are putting. If I would have known this place was like this I would have payed the extra 10-20 dollars and played elsewhere.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COURSE.. IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!!!!!

“Great Layout”
Reviewed November 29, 2009

This is a tremendous public course. My main criticism is that three of the par threes are essentially the same hole and long for the average golfer (208, 206, 232 from the Blues). Only #11 is less at 158. And that is about a 145 carry over water. But this course has elevated greens, challenging bunker placement with nice sand (not the hard pack we commonly find in Arizona), and fairways that require precise drive placement. And the new greens are fast and true. All in all a challenging and rewarding experience.

“Great course layout - beautiful views”
Reviewed November 16, 2009

This is a great course. I've played it a few times since it re-opened. At first, it was a little rough (hard greens), but that's to be expected when they are new. It's a fantastic layout. Be advised that there was a group that was VERY vocal against having the renovations done to the course, and it appears that a few of them have left reviews here hoping to sabotage the future success of the course...thereby exonerationg their previous bad behavior. The course is not in bad shape like a couple of the reviews said. I am surprised that the LPGA had an event there with no clubhouse facilities, and with the course being so new, but it seemed to go well.
