“New Year's Eve at the Symphony”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

We attended this sell-out event on New Year's Eve, 2013, with a Road Scholar group. The seats were comfortable, the acoustics were good in the lower level back of the venue, the lighting added to the performance, and the temperature was comfortable.

The guest conductor talked and joked w/the audience, which was not at all what I expected at the symphony, but it fit easily with the mostly "pops" music of the evening. The orchestra played very well and the soloist (operatic soprano) was entertaining.

The attire for the 7:00 p.m. performance was not black tie and evening gowns as I had expected, although I did see a number of suits and cocktail dresses. You would be very comfortable in business attire to dressy casual.

As in any sold out event, the lines for the ladies room at intermission were impossibly long.

“Great First Experience”
Reviewed December 25, 2013

I took my daughters to a 1pm Christmas Eve showing of the Nutcracker, and have nothing but wonderful things to point out. The performance itself was outstanding, the venue warm and open, restrooms easily accessible, etc. The sound throughout is fantastic (I should know, we started in the top corner but our usher brought us front and center after intermission), and there isn't a bad view in the house. What set the experience apart, however, were the employees. Everybody was charismatic and charming, going out of their way to wish my daughters (6 and 3) a Merry Christmas and ask them questions about their ballet classes, what they want for Christmas, etc. There were plenty of opportunities to be upsold, but it wasn't even pursued--very appreciated. Parking was convenient if not a tad pricey ($12 but directly across the street), otherwise just a wonderful experience, and we will return.

“No middle aisle”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Good sound, great venue. Parking was easy on Sunday not much harder during the weekday. 1 or 2 restaurants nearby. No signal outside after intermission. They have fun and wonderful visiting meastros. A real gem for the Phoenix area.

“Excellent concert with Lang Lang”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Excellent concert with Lang Lang on piano. Only downside is that the concert was too short. The venue was very nice and would recommend going if you like classical music.

“Phoenix Symphony - Worth the Effort”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

The Phoenix Symphony has been in transition for a few years. Things ARE changing, and for the better. They are working to bring great music to a broader audience.

Their John Williams/Steven Spielberg event is a great example.
