“Great hotel, not sure if area is ready yet”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

This chic, modern hotel is everything you would expect from a downtown luxury place and more. Valet, doormen, concierges, and tons of extras. Getting from the parking garage to the hotel is a little confusing due to lack of signs/directions. You have to take 2 separate elevators. The room is extremely modern, no door on the showers, iphone docks, touchless entry, etc... This hotel does have some cons though. I stayed at the end of April 2013, and there was a lot of construction going on here, nothing the pictures show of course. The hotel the building is in is not completely done. They are still adding floors up, consequently you have a large crane right outside the hotel. The parking is not free, and I had to ask about a parking package they do offer for a price per day. There is no fridge or microwave. Only a mini bar which wasnt that cold, however the prices at the mini bar were surprisingly decent. I would love to see this hotel in about half a year to a year once the construction is finished. Im sure it will be perfect.

Room Tip: If you upgrade to a corner view, you're just getting another window, but no difference in the ac...

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback regarding your recent stay at Palomar Phoenix. I value it all and definately learn about the things we need to make better. We want to be the hotel of choice in Phoenix so I appreciate all feedback from our guest. I would like to clarify that there is construction happening above the hotel. The hotel itself is complete and in fact we are celebrating our one year anniversay in just a few weeks. There is a crane in the front of the hotel but doesn't come in to view of our hotel guest except for a very few rooms. Construction is only occuring during the daytime hours and we are very sensitive to make sure nothing loud is happening during the sleeping hours. I monitor this hourly. The apartments that are being built above us open early 2014 but the entire building will be topped by the end of July and the crane removed in early August. I hope that clears up any concern or questions.

I agree with you...the hotel is pretty spectacular right now and with that removal of the crane and topping of the apartments we will be out of this world.
Thank you for your business and hope to see you back very soon.

Sincerely
Jim Hollister

I'm drawn toward boutique hotels as they tend to feature interesting rooms in historic buildings with character, as opposed to the sterile mainstream brands. So I was a bit disappointed when I learned this hotel is in a brand new building, but they've done a great job on rooms & common areas, and the staff is terrific. The condos still under construction above make it look like you're in a construction zone but are no problem at night.

The sustainability practices actually feel deeply held rather than a veneer. Although there isn't a gym, you can go to the neighboring Gold's Gym for free. There's no coffee maker in the room, but free morning coffee service makes up for it. And the evening wine hour is a nice touch.

The rooms are perhaps stylish to one fault: the shower isn't fully enclosed, so you're concerned about splashing half the bathroom.

We arrived feeling tired after a transatlantic flight, and were immediately cheered by the friendly greeting we received from all the staff. Our room was stylish, bright and spacious. The pool area is beautifully laid out with a cool openair bar, and a wonderful view of downtown Phoenix, with the baseball stadium a stroll away. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, but noted the welcome free coffee in the foyer as we went to a nearby diner. The hotel is a very quick and easy car journey from the airport, and simple to find.

I attended a business retreat and the Palomar and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Phoenix area. The rooms were very trendy and meeting room was gorgeous! It sits right in the heart of downtown and is just a walk across the street to great restaurants and entertainment! The pool area offers a spectacular view. Do yourself a favor and make your reservations now!

Great hotel, good location and the nicest friendly service that I have had in a long time. Fast room service, a great bed, a clean and attractive room all the things that make a hotel stay wonderful.
Cannot wait till they have a Kimpton property in Tucson.

Don't let the construction keep you from considering this great downtown entertainment location. Looking forward to staying again. Unfortunately on this trip, our floor-mates were part of an excited wedding party until 3am, will remember next time to lodge away from elevators. Thank goodness for the construction earplugs and lots of comfy pillows to hide under. The staff were very accommodating to a pre-dawn breakfast in bed and a late check-out request to enjoy time their rooftop pool. During our short visit, the pool bar appeared understaffed with 3 events happening in the pool area, yes-it's that large with no crowded feeling, but resulted in 30-45 mins. for cocktails and over an hour for appetizers. No fault of the attentive service provided by the pool hostess. Food and drink at the onsite Blue Hound was top notch which melted away the earlier delays. Easy walking distance to several concert halls with a multitude of bike shuttles within the business district. Would feel completely safe staying at this hotel again as an older, single traveler.
