Camelback Mountain is absolutely beautiful. It is a very challenging hike that provides excellent views. However, on the weekends it is packed. It is very likely that the main parking lot will be closed because there are no more parking spots. In this case, you will have to park a mile or two aways and walk.
If you like hiking, you will like Camelback. After walking up the steep side, you get to a "resting point." After this, for the first mile or so, there are railings that will help you pull yourself up the mountain. After the first two major climbs, these railings no longer exist and many people turn around.
The rest of the hike is extremely challenging, beautiful, and there are always less people.
I definitely recommend going to Camelback, but only if you are a healthy individual without medical issues. If not, it is worth driving by and walking around the bottom part. I recommend going during the week or very early in the morning (opens at sunrise) to avoid the crowds.
