I had the daily special, which was a southwestern chicken condon bleu variation. It was not spicy at all, but was very tasty.

Stayed in Phoenix for 4 nights. We enjoyed this place so much we ate there on three different occassions. One lunch meal and two dinners. It was close to our Hotel ( Westin) and it is located on a corner of a block. Service was great and the place has a Homey feel to it. We were very comfortable in the Bar. Place was very low key . Food was awesome and the beer was cold. What more can I say ? The price is reasonable . We ate outside twice. Very nice area to enjoy your meal. If you are in the downtown area I would suggest you stop by this place. I dont think you will be let down. Enjoy !

Two couples. Four dinners. One Malbec and iced tea for 3. The Tavern BLT was very good. So was the Rueben. Fish and chips was especially generously portioned and the taste was excellent. Our gluten free member loved the tri;tip salad which had a big portion of steak and very fresh salad. It came with croutons despite reminding the waiter that she had to eat gluten free. It was taken back and the croutons were removed and brought back with apologies by another staff member (kitchen staff delivers for the waiters).

The only item that was disappointing was the house mac and cheese. It came out warm, not bubbling hot. Flavor was excellent, but i was expecting both heat from chili peppers and the mac to be hot out of the kitchen.

All this for under $70. Nice facility. Lots of TVs. Comfy booths. Lots of room for lots of customers. We were glad we got in early before things filled up on a busy Friday evening.

We stopped here for a casual dinner before a concert at Comerica which is just a couple of blocks away. The place was pretty empty, so I wasn't sure what to expect. We were impressed with the food. I had the Ahi Tuna Sliders & thought they were awesome. My friend had a burger that he liked. We both had the curly fries that were yummy.
The atmosphere was nice with plenty of seats & well decorated.
The bartender was not friendly, but did his job & wasn't unfriendly or anything.
We would come back when in the area & I definitely recommend it to those in the area.

Stopped in for lunch with an old friend. We had lots to catch up on, so got a booth inside where it was quieter. The decor is true to Tom's heritage at this location, modernized with lots of historical pics on the wall. The Governor's Room has an attractive gleaming golden state seal over the doorway.

Service was excellent. Food was OK. Great bar with Tom's specialties, where I don't water, so no info on that. I should have had the 1929 chili, or a burger to really try the food. I had a Cuban sandwich with house salad instead. The salad greens were fresh, the tiny Tom atoes sweet and crunchy. The sandwich was a Phoenix Arizona Cuban sandwich from Tom's Tavern, not like a Cuban sandwich made by somebody's Cuban mother or Abuelo using all the right Cuban ingredients. Kind of like Mexican food in Yellowknife, Yukon Territory. Good test.

Next time I'm having the burger. There will be a next time.
