“great service”
Reviewed March 17, 2012

Stopped by Tom's when exploring downtown Phoenix. We had appetizers, which were good (especially the artichoke dip), and drinks, which were ice cold! What impressed me more was the service. Our bartender, Dawn, was super friendly. We are from out of town, so she gave us great reviews of some of the best places to visit around here. If you like mixed drinks, try the Ratner Rita- a mango / peach signature drink in honor of their previous owner - very tasty! :)

“Good Food Good Service”
Reviewed March 12, 2012

Tom's Tavern is located close to downtown entertainment and sport centers. Menu was limited - basically pub food but what they offered was very tasty. The bartender could use instruction in the proper pouring of Guinness though. Good food and good service. I would definitely go again.

“Totally remodeled - but food and service needs some work”
Reviewed October 26, 2011

Tom's Tavern just reopened in downtown Phoenix. It was always a favorite of ours. The last "Tom" passed away and the restaurant was purchased by the Bidwell family of the AZ Cardinals. The restaurant was closed and totally updated and re-opened just this month.
There is a new bar area that is very nice. It was very hot in the restaurant however - especially if eating their famous chili.
The service was pretty lacking - probably because it was all new. Asked for ranch dressing on the side salad and received a caesar salad already dressed with the ranch on the side. Not too good. The salad was also an artichoke and red onion salad - hardly any lettuce. Not too good. Also had the french dip sandwich. The bread was not sturdy enough to hold up to the juicy sandwich. The bread just melted away. The chili was huge and good.
I think the staff needs some more practice.
On a good note, there was a nice happy hour for drinks and appetizers.
