My friend and I took the one day tour to the Grand Canyon via Sedona with Howard. He was an awesome tour guide! The tour was amazing and Howard talked the whole time so we got to learn a ton about Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and everything in between. His energy and enthusiasm was contagious and made the day so fun. I will definitely tour with this company again next year when I'm back!

Wow. We had a super day on this outstanding tour. Our guide picked us up at our hotel early in the am and delivered us back late evening. In between was the most beautiful scenery and informative trip of our vacation. The guide told us facts, legends and history and made it interesting for the whole family. The trip included Red Rocks of Sedona and the Coconino National Forest. We had two photo stops before we entered Oak Creek Canyon which is one of the top ten scenic routes in the United States. The afternoon was spent touring the breathtaking Grand Canyon National Park. It was relaxing and breathtaking. We had time to explore the abundant gift shops and museum before we depart for the Navajo Nation with the Cameron Trading Post and views of the Little Colorado River Gorge.

My family and I will never forget this trip nor Southwest Custom Tours.

We only had one day to see the Grand Canyon and we're glad that we decided to book with this Tour. We were picked up at 7:05AM at our hotel near the airport. Our guide (Howard) made the drive interesting, informative and funny. Booking the tour made the our trip very efficient (time-wise) and Howard pointed out interesting highlights.

This wasn't the right choice.

Cons:
- Bus: the bus was not suitable for sight-seeing, just regular mini-van with small windows, used for transportation. People seating on the left side could not see anything on the right and vice versa. Observation was very limited, except for front row (1 seat).
- Schedule: out of the whole 13 hours tour, we only barely spent 1.5 hour next to our major destination, Grand Kanyon.
We were unlucky, as there were 3 people on our bus, who booked a helicopter flight over kanyon on the same day, and this has ruined all the trip. First, the tour started with Sedona (and not ended with it, as described in other comments), where we wasted time seeing some (mormons?) church. Then, we lost 2 (two!) hours waiting to pick up people, who finished their helicopter flight - driver had to go back to the helicopter's site and pick them up and return to the place where we had lunch. (I’m doubtfull if he ever apologized for the delay and for not letting travellers know when a tour will continue). And lastly, on our way back we visited gift-shop, where we lost another half-an-hour. Overall, out of 3-4 hours, which we could spend looking at the canyon (13 in total, minus 4-5 hours drives there and back), we wasted more than half of it.
Such a poor planning might be OK somewhere in Egypt or Turkey, where driver would pick his relatives somewhere off the road on the road, and tourists would had to visit papyrus shop here and gold shop there, and would only have 20 minutes left to see the Pyramids. But I certainly did not expect such a poor service from any business in north amerika. (BTW, in terms of money, each an hour lost costs us 10 bucks, given ~130$ for 13 hours tour.)
- Route 66: I’d love to make a picture next to a “Route 66” road sign, even if it’s bit off the road. Alas, unlike the other “bonuses” we received on that day, this one was only a promise.

Pros:
- Guide: our driver/guide was very helpful and full of various information. It obviously wasn’t his fault, that he had to screw the whole tour in order to accommodate our co-travellers’s flight.

I would not recomment this tour to my friends.

Hello Alex and Natalia~

Thank you for taking the time to review your tour on Trip Advisor.

First of all, we are sorry that you did not enjoy the Grand Canyon/Sedona tour. We always strive to give all of our guests the best experience possible. This includes: All tours being conducted in our customized 15 passenger vans where we only book 11 passengers at a time. We also rotate the passengers to different seats throughout the tour, so each person has the opportunity to be in the front seating of the van.

The Grand Canyon via Sedona tour is full of magnificent sights and scenery and to allow our passengers to see all they can of these sights and during the winter months, we are forced to stop in Sedona first to maximize all of the daylight hours. Our Sedona stop allows guest to capture the beauty of the red rock formations, use the restroom and if time permits a stop at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. The chapel offers one of the best if not the best panoramic view of the Sedona area. Our guests tend to find this sight/stop awe-inspiring.

We did have a chance to go back and review our GPS tracker for that day which showed your next stop to be the Grand Canyon National Park. As you know, we did have to drop our helicopter guests off first before entering the park. We as a company do our best to accommodate all of our guests needs/requests within reason. Due to abnormal traffic congestion at the main gate, entering the park too much longer than usual, with this in mind Howard decided to make your first stop at Pipe Creek Vista before your lunch break. The congestion at the main gate created our turnaround time for the helicopter tours much longer than expected and for that we apologize. Not only did Howard experience this delay but the owner also ran into the same issue with his tour and guests that took a helicopter flight.
After Howard picked everyone up, your tour continued along the south rim of the Grand Canyon with stops at Duck on Rock, Lipan Point, Navajo Point, Watch Tower/Desert View, and Moran Point. After your departure from the Grand Canyon National Park the tour stopped at the Cameron Trading Post for guest to use the restroom, shop and fuel up before are return trip back to the Phoenix area. This stop is always incorporated in our day tour to the Grand Canyon.

We will try and communicate with all passengers in more detail about other passengers on the tour that are taking a helicopter tour.

Thank you for again for taking the time to review your tour on Trip Advisor. We appreciate when our guest provide honest feedback about their experience.

This is my second review of this company. My first was in 2011. This company has very knowledgeable, fantastic driver / guides who make your day with them fulfilling. You end your day having gained facts and figures on all kinds of information on Arizona. The tour locations themselves our breathtaking, you then mix in all the knowledge that is basically continuous from start to finish and you end your day back at your hotel (they pick up in most areas of Phoenix & Scottsdale). We have used this company three years in a row and have taken several tours again because we enjoy these great day trips. We have already taken two tours this visit.
Laura who handles your bookings and inquiries adds to this excellent company. The motto of this company seems to be if your not satisfied they are not satisfied.
I highly recommend Vaughan's Southwest Tours.
