If it were located in Italy, it would be a Trattoria. An inexpensive local intimate rectangular space eatery not normally visited by tourists. Located off the NWC of Tatum & Shea (the Paradise Valley section of Phoenix) in a Trader Joe's/Whole Foods retail center. There are three "Nick's" locations, the 'parent' one in Scottsdale off Pima & Pinnacle Peak.
The menu is mostly in the $10-$20 range. The bar has a local Happy Hour following. The main courses are those normal to an Italian restuarant. Pastas with sauces (laden with meat if that is your style); lasagna; chicken, veal, and fish dishes. Portions are not skimpy. There is always a selection of Specials. Pizza could be an appitizer or main dish. Nice assorted bread basket. They do a brisk take-out business too! Service is attentive.
Bottom line: It is worth the visit and beats eating at the much more expensive eateries.
