“Great base for Phoenix”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

The hostel is in a residential area on the edge of downtown, with easy free street parking. Public transportation from the airport takes 45 minutes to an hour, but involves several blocks walking. I stayed one night in a private room, two other nights in dorms. The staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Wifi works well, although conversation is gently encouraged. Pleasant grounds. Hostel is clean and comfortable. Well equipped and organized kitchen, with very generous free breakfast. Just good luck and not a regular thing, but on two evenings there was a free communal evening meal with great conversation. A true international hostel atmosphere, highly recommended.

I spent two nights here in the dorm. When I first arrived, the staff member was very welcoming and di her best to give me directions to the Musical Instruments Museum which, lets face it, is at quite some remove from the hostel. They were also very accommodating when I wanted to change to a lower bunk. The bunks themselves weren't the most comfortable I have slept in but they were OK.

The really great thing about the hostel was the social environment - people hanging out in the common room and willing to chat. I can't comment on the breakfast because I found a wonderful cafe. I did use the internet a fair bit, and it was always reliable.

I was lucky enough to get the last bed in the dorm room on the same day and would definitely go back. The staff are super-friendly and helpful, the common room is cozy and set up so it's easy to meet other travellers, the beds & bathrooms are clean and neatly organized and there's a backyard and front porch for relaxing. The location and price really can't be beat - it's located in a residential neighborhood right off the freeway, about 10-15 minutes (no traffic) from the airport. There are some shops and bars within walking distance. The neighborhood is quiet, well-lit and safe. Breakfast is available in the kitchen and the wifi password and towel rentals only cost $1 each. Highly recommended. (http://home.earthlink.net/~phxhostel/)

The staff are local, very helpful and knowledgeable of hostels and travelling. They have a great Mexican Supermarket close by and the front and backyards are relaxing especially in the hammocks! There are musical instruments and board games to play and the light breakfast is amazing (included in your $23 per night). It is a small hostel but the other travellers are friendly and everything is accessible by public transport, thank god you can finally book on-line too!! The Lost Leaf Bar has live music, the filmbar, library, matt's big breakfast and the heard museum are my favorites. STAY HERE - you will not forget or regret it!!

Room Tip: Private Room has shared bath and there is a new family room sleeps 4 people that is amazing! These...

This is such a Great Place! I stayed a couple of years ago.
When your walking down the street looking for it, most likely YOU WILL WALK RIGHT PASS THE HOSTEL! It is that well hidden!
The entrance looks like an entrance to Jurrassic Park! A Lot of Greenary!
You can work for your nights stay here as well.
The Manager Lady is so Cool & Sweet!
They have an AWESOME COMMON ROOM! They have a Piano for playing your latest tunes, Brochures on things To Do in the area, also a Nice GuestBook which you can sign & also look at previous hosteller quotes!
The Kitchen is SUPERB! The backyard is a place to Chill & Relax!
Go there & Enjoy!
