First of all, we thought the restaurant was called The Secret Garden so we had a difficult time finding the actual restaurant on the property. The property left a lot to be desired. Two of us wanted to share a bowl of soup and were told that they could not do that, but eventually they did. It took forever to get our meals. We were told that the special soup of the day was made individually as each order was placed, which we found hard to believe since it was tortilla soup. That takes a long time to make. We ordered the brisket/ham sandwich and there was hardly any brisket on it. The sandwich was mostly bread. The service was not all that good either. We were kind of in a hurry and we were told that this restaurant was a fine dining/slow dining experience kind of restaurant. So, we do not plan on returning. It is pricey, too.

We dined outdoors on a lovely Phoenix evening and had the pleasure of Alicia serving our table. The service, food, and atmosphere were first rate and the menu was intriguing. Prices ranged from $12 to $30 and offered fish, fowl, and vegetarian cuisine. Desserts are worth saving room for. We will definitely return!

What a fantastic place!

The food is fresh. The menu is top notch. The decor and service round out an excellent experience.

If you appreciate fine food, then this is the place for you.

The only problem was that the menu had so many good appetizers and sides that by the time we were done eating all of our food, we didn't have much room for dessert.

I really enjoyed my meal, I'll be back here the next time I'm visiting the area.

Actually found the House at Secret Garden on the Internet while trying to find a spot that served desserts by Tracey Dempsey. Even though it was a 30 minute drive from our hotel (JW Marriott Camelback), it was well worth it. As it turned out, the desserts placed 2nd to the food. It was a beautiful night for Al fresco dining, and the "Garden" was lovely. Food selections were excellent, flavorful with simple but elegant presentation.

We have eaten here twice and the food was really very good. We had the shrimp and grits, a short rib dish and a pasta dish. All of the dishes had truly great flavor. We also had some of the sweet potato planks with pancetta and they were amazingly good. We ordered dessert - even though we were totally stuffed -- just because we wanted to try a piece of the yummy sounding chocolate cake. Good thing we did because it was outstanding. It was very dense and moist without being gummy and had the most intense chocolate flavor to it (in a good way). And not too sweet either. The setting is lovely too if you like buildings and gardens with character. Nice service too.
