“amazing views”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

I took the long hike to the top of the peak. It was challenging at some points but well worth it once you get to the top, amazing view of the whole valley,

“For Fitness Freaks”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

Although the climb on the main trail is manageable if you are not in the best condition (my seventy five year old father in law climbed it with his walking stick), the local fitness freaks make this hazardous for the slomos, especially on the decsent, where they run full out, and fast. I spend a month here during the winter and climb it every morning, and two years ago was mowed down and broke my leg (and had the pleasure of walking out of the park on it). Most of thr runners are there in the very early morning (many pre-dawn), so, even though it is much more crowded in the afternoon, it is a safer experience. Be aware that the sun sets quickly here, and there are periodic recues via helicopter (at a cost to the person being recued).

“Not a walk in the park”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

For true, angile hikers, this is a probably a wonderful experience. However, be aware that the trail is truly "up hill" on a dangerously eroded trail where stabiliztion of ambulation is vital. Large jagged rocks, significantly high steps and a relatively narrow path. Also, be aware when the sunsets as navigation DOWN is very difficult after sunset.

“great trails”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

I hiked here on my recent visit to Phoenix and highly recommend it. It was a short drive from Glendale. There are a lot of trails to branch off on and the trails are clearly marked so there is no way to get lost and have trouble finding your way back. On a Sunday there were a lot of hikers but it was not crowded and there was plenty of parking. Do take water - more than you think you need. It was a real treat to find a bush at the peak decorated for Christmas.

“Get there early!”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

I love this climb. I am pretty active and it takes about 90 minutes to go to the top of the mountain and back down. I would highly recommend taking the adventure though. One suggestion is if you go on the weekends, go early. Parking tends to back up around 7AM as a lot people want to beat the heat as well as catch the beautiful Arizona sunrise. If you are visiting Phoenix this is a must, it isn't the most difficult climb, but it is challenging. Once you get to the top there are awesome views of downtown Phoenix and the entire valley.
