“Haberdashery Hash House”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

A historic men's clothing store has been remodeled into a slick, modern restaurant. Well worth a visit to this downtown upscale menu.

The food was very good....pizza was cooked perfect! Drinks were good as well Up n Dirty and the St Germaine were so good we came back for one later. DJ played fun music! The waitress was very slow to bring drinks and the bill. We were almost late for concert.

“OK but not memorable!”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Our small group was downtown in Phoenix to visit a few attractions and attend the Herberger Theater. After the play we looked around for a place to have a light dinner. Hanny's is a place I shopped as a kid (The Varsity Shoppe) and I just wanted to see what they had done to it. It was OK, original "bones" still evident. It was quiet, maybe six or seven tables. Food was artsie, maybe I'm into too much comfort food for a place like this. Anyway, it was fine but I didn't have any desire to go back.

“Great pizza”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

Hanny's is in an old clothing store. Established in the '20's Hanny's Clothes sold Hart, Schafner & Marx suits -- the top of the line for those days. That business closed in the '80's. Eventually, the restaurqnt was established. The building looks like it was just about the only old building in that part of downtown to escape the wrecker's ball and become a high-rise something. The entrance is on 1st Street and the side is on Adams. Most of the floor is taken up by a bar (three sides of a rectangle). They sell mixed drinks, beer and wine. I had a Stone Levitation beer. Who could resist a name like that? It had a grapefuity flavor and was excellent.

The pizza is wonderful. The crust is like a giant oval cracker. The sauce is thinly spread but excellent. I had the Americano, which is Italian sasage, mushrooms, onions, and one more thing which I forgot. It was about a foot from end to end but only 6 inches or so wide. With the cracker-like crust, it went down very easily. As I recall, it was $13.50, and the beer was $5.50. Hanny's is about a block from the Hyatt Regency Phoenix. Along with Steve's Green House Grill, also on Adams, it is the closest to the hotel.
