Overall, a very good experience. Our two granddaughters... 8 & 10 enjoyed themselves for 6 hours considering the Planetarium and lunch. Admission of $15 each for adults and $12 each for kids was "ok"... but then add $8 for parking; and extra cost for the planetarium, imax, body, lunch, etc... and it quickly adds up. Our two especially enjoyed the outside water attractions; the force of nature; and role playing in the bank. I thought the brain section was engaging. They have some areas that need attention: 1 - re-engineer the admission line. It wasn't that long (30 people) and it took almost 30 minutes to get in... should have been 10 or less; 2 - the café "yells out" your order number when ready... "quite obnoxious" in such a small concrete room; 3 - parking tickets in the adjoining parking ramp need validation for the Science Center discount. That's great, except the discount is only good for 4 hours.... from our experience (6 hours 19 minutes) and most of the reviewers (5+ hours)... 4 hours doesn't seem right. All in all... a very nice place to take 5-10 year olds for a half day, especially during the heat of the summer in Phoenix.

Our kids, 8 & 11, both loved the museum. Plan to spend a half day, more if you take in an IMAX or planetarium show.

The Arizona Science Center is a good attraction if you have children; they'll be entertained by the many interactive exhibits they have including the natural disasters exhibit which simulates tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. If however, you are just adults, I would not recommend this place as it is made mainly for children and you will probably get bored.

Located next door to the Phoenix Convention Center, the AZ Science Center was quite a surprise. An old friend that has lived in Phoenix for nearly 20 years strongly recommended it for children, and we easily spent five hours there being entertained by the exhibits. We originally relegated the science center as an afterthought to Castles and Coasters (the local amusement park), but we didn't know that C&C's rides open at 5 p.m. (not 10 a.m. like the other attractions), so we decided to go to the Science Center instead.

The exhibits are large, entertaining, and best of all, interactive. The giant stomach, complete with sounds, was a huge hit with children of all ages. Another hit was the outdoor section where plastic balls can be thrown into vortices, ride on rails, and do other things on water-based exhibits.

The cafe is not bad, and not too expensive. We didn't go into the IMAX theater or other attractions that were at additional costs because we were limited on time. But we scoured all four floors of the center, and there is something for everyone regardless of age at this venue.

Overall, a very good way to spend the day in Phoenix; very educational!

Wasn't on our itinerary of things to do but stumbled onto fact that there was a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition that was ending in a couple days. Well, the Da Vinci exhibition in itself was well worth the time and money spent. This man was a genius on all levels...artist, scientist, and especially inventor of many items we use today!
The different levels have something for everyone to do and explore. My 10 yr old son couldn't get enought of everything and would have stayed there all day if he could!! Didn't seen any rampant children. Perhaps it was the Da Vinci exhibition that drew more adults than children the day we were there. I did notice lots of adults "playing" on all the levels.
Definately the best place to hide from the Arizona heat!
