Located next door to the Phoenix Convention Center, the AZ Science Center was quite a surprise. An old friend that has lived in Phoenix for nearly 20 years strongly recommended it for children, and we easily spent five hours there being entertained by the exhibits. We originally relegated the science center as an afterthought to Castles and Coasters (the local amusement park), but we didn't know that C&C's rides open at 5 p.m. (not 10 a.m. like the other attractions), so we decided to go to the Science Center instead.

The exhibits are large, entertaining, and best of all, interactive. The giant stomach, complete with sounds, was a huge hit with children of all ages. Another hit was the outdoor section where plastic balls can be thrown into vortices, ride on rails, and do other things on water-based exhibits.

The cafe is not bad, and not too expensive. We didn't go into the IMAX theater or other attractions that were at additional costs because we were limited on time. But we scoured all four floors of the center, and there is something for everyone regardless of age at this venue.

Overall, a very good way to spend the day in Phoenix; very educational!

Wasn't on our itinerary of things to do but stumbled onto fact that there was a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition that was ending in a couple days. Well, the Da Vinci exhibition in itself was well worth the time and money spent. This man was a genius on all levels...artist, scientist, and especially inventor of many items we use today!
The different levels have something for everyone to do and explore. My 10 yr old son couldn't get enought of everything and would have stayed there all day if he could!! Didn't seen any rampant children. Perhaps it was the Da Vinci exhibition that drew more adults than children the day we were there. I did notice lots of adults "playing" on all the levels.
Definately the best place to hide from the Arizona heat!

This museum is huge and has science exhibits catering to children of all ages. I will say this is not a science museum for adults. It caters to children and to teenagers, but it is big and has a ton to do. We spent between 2 and 3 hours there and could have stayed longer. (We brought two 10 year olds who had a blast.) Exhibits are elaborate, crafted well, interesting, and educational. Everything is very appealing to the eye. I'll break down the primary exhibits for you.
* The human body --tons of interactive, larger than life exhibits that range from simple biology to genetics. ( I will include pictures.)
* Weather- Including a platform that teaches you about types of weather using water, heat, wind, etc. You will get wet.
* Physics and Physical Science- Tons of simple machines
* Electronics and technology- Including a HAM radio station
* Music and Sound
* Outdoor water station-- very neat, see pictures
There were tons of other smaller exhibits and we didn't do the imax or planetarium simply because we ran out of time.
We would definitely go back.

Loved having a full day indoor activity. This was a fun filled 4 floors of eduction and fun! Make sure you get here at opening, because it takes all day to see it all.

We purchased an annual membership thinking this would be a great place to visit once it starts to really heat up for our daughter. She is mildly interested (at best) here. I think this place is good for a single visit if it's too hot to go to the zoo, but it seems that it could be so much better. They could learn a lot from the Children's Museum across the street in my opinion.
