Nice zoo but a must to go in the Fall weather. Staff is extremely friendly and the grounds are very well kept.

“Not Much”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We went to Phoenix Zoo on Wednesday 08/28/13. It was very disappointing even those we got to the zoo at 8am, there are no animals to see, it is so hot they hide in their house. After working for like an hour, I was thinking it what a waste of money & I was pissed & thinking I want my money BACK! Hey 4 tickets is a lot to paid & nothing to see. It is so hot in a 3 digits degree. There are some places you have to pay additional money for the rides. Finally, we come to the money village. This house 15 cute Squirrel Monkeys & the cool part is you get to go inside the cage to get close to them. Off course, you can’t touch them & there are many zoo keeper there to keep the monkeys from attacking you & from you touching the monkeys. Another place in the zoo which makes our money worth is the stingrays feeding. Off course, you have to pay additional money to go in & buy the food (fish & shrimps) to feed the stingrays. There are 31 stingrays in the tank. FYI, if you gonna let you kids feed the stingrays, you have to be there at noon, lunch time. Also you must bring a change of clothes for your kid to change afterward, because the smell from the stingray’s food (frozen fishes & shrimps) smell HORRIBLE. We been to bigger & better zoo with much animals & many other activities to for kids to do. However, feeding the stingrays & be in the cage with the monkeys are the 2 things other zoo don’t have. At least these 2 activities make my money worth because my niece & nephew loved it. Will not return, one time is enough.

“Very Nice Zoo”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Although this is not a huge zoo, it is set up for a nice walk. They have an nice assortment of animals, that you will get to see. If you follow all the trails, it will take you several hours. To me, it feels like an oasis in the desert. We try to take all of our visitors here, at least once.

The otters are my favorite. Maybe because they are playing in the water. By the time you get to their exhibit, you'll need to be refreshed. Plus, if you walk the back trail, you will see the mountain goats up on cliffs. Very cool.

If you go during the hot summer months, make sure you arrive when it opens. It gets pretty hot once the afternoon hits. Once it gets hot, even the animals won't be coming out for you to see them.

Tip: during the Christmas holidays (from Thanksgiving through the new year), the zoo is open late and it all decorated and lighted. It is just beautiful, and worth the trip!

“Not for animal lovers”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

First, it's hot in Phoenix and even the Africananimalsdon't come out in the heat.
Though there are areas for animals to roam - most were in their "barracks" and the visit was not worth the money. Only one area had Zoo employees to explain about animals and/or show.
Bring cash for all the"fun" things cost extra and you will need to buy drinks.

“A little hot, but a hospitable staff”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

This zoo in all honesty is one of my favorites-ever...Because of the time of year (August) that we visited there were not a lot of patrons. The staff was very friendly and took their time answering our questions. We especially enjoyed feeding the Giraffes! That was awesome!
