The GPS had a bit of difficulty finding the zoo (wanted to turn down a closed road right before the zoo turn to the parking lot), but after that everything ran smoothly. Everything is well marked and the map is excellent. Plenty of room for visitors and the train when walking around the site. Lots of interactive displays.

I have been going to the Phoenix Zoo since I was a kid so have see it evolve from the early 70's on my first visit to today.

They have not changed much over the years but the animals have evolved.

It is good for an Arizona kid to see African animals and also more local-type wildlife.

They have plenty of hands-on exhibits. To get to feed a giraffe is a very cool experience.

I would recommend taking the train tour around the zoo to get your bearings before doing your own tour.

The play area for the kids is also a nice touch.

Well worth the family annual pass fee if you plan to visit a few times each year.

You can get so close to the animals! Most animals are active and the zoo isn't very spread out, so walking doesn't wear you down as much as other zoos. Must visit!

While visiting our grandbabies in Phoenix we, of course, suggested taking the 2 year old to the zoo. The visit was during the Baseball Spring Training Week and we expected that the zoo would be busy but took a chance anyway. Approaching the zoo was so easy and well marked and there were traffic signs warning baseball goers that there was no parking in the lot for them. Parking was busy but we found a spot with very little trouble as people come and go. Admission was a bit high, but I have learned to expect that with zoos that are a quality experience and this definitely was. The 2 year old was free though! Our fee was reduced by $5 as we are considered "seniors". Easy walking paths. Plenty of restrooms that are kept in good order. I can't speak of restaurants except to say that there are plenty of them and bottled water is way too expensive considering that you really need to have it out there! There are lots of animals that a 2 year old knows well and can easily spot even when the animals are "napping" in the heat of the afternoon. The zoo is clean and well arranged. Educational signage is exceptional. Lots of benches for watching, waiting, or just resting.

I enjoy coming here. There are playgrounds and splash pads to stay out of the heat. The kids enjoy the petting zoo. Good variety of species.
