When I walked into the Aloft for the first time I was very curious on what kind of experience I would have with this Starwood property. My first impression? I wasn't sure where the check-in location was because there was only a small circular desk near the front door. If you walk in through the front door I am sure it would be easier but coming in from the back parking lot it was a little confusing for this veteran traveler.
Check-in was a snap and the minimalist designed lobby was a change of pace from the cookie cutter chain hotel designs.
My biggest complaint : The closet in the room is a shallow book shelf with a curtain to cover the opening. It was okay for me but if I had the wife with me the closet would not hold all our clothes.
My biggest compliment : My colleagues and I came in late after the hotel bar had closed and we were shooting pool in the lobby. The manager offered to open the bar for us after we casually mentioned a desire for a cocktail. He kept it open as long as he could and offered us a last chance warning before being required to close. Nice touch.
I would stay there again for business, in fact I am next week. But I might not stay there with the wife if I was staying longer than a weekend getaway.
