This is our first trip to Phoenix and the Grand Canyon and we wanted to do it at our own pace so we arranged though the Plaza resort for Detours to pick us up at 7:00 a.m. For a full day at the canyon and then sunset at Sedona. Robert met us promptly in an ac ford expedition for the three hour drive to the canyon. He was knowledgable about the culture of the area, history of the state, cacti and other vegetation, just everything. Then when we got to the canyon he took us to the most beautiful locations. Avoided the crowds by going in the "back way." Had a bottle of wine (not Robert!) at the first stop at Lipan point and enjoyed serenity and 77 degree temps. Remember that the canyon is at about 7000 feet so its cool with a breeze. Then Robert showed us all other fabulous locations up to Tovar restaurant and we had lunch at the lodge overlooking the canyon. Then we drove to Sedona and Robert gave us the opportunity to shop in some of the quaint local shops before driving up to the mountain sunset. Not a more beautiful location ever. Then back to Scottsdale by 8:30. Robert could not have been more helpful. He let us enjoy the sites privately but was always there to answer questions. This is not a cheap trip ($750 for the day) but its a once in a life time one. You can take a bus or van with a group but going leisurely with Robert was first class in every way. Thanks Robert! My husband and I took the day tour from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon and it was really nice. They picked us up at 06:45 from the Westin Hotel in downtown. Our tour guide, William, was simply great. We had a few stops along the way but the highlight was the helicopter ride over the canyon. We totally rcommend Detours and Maverick for the helicopter ride. Totally worth it!

Thank you Monica for reviewing your Detours trip! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience! We are so lucky to have such great guides like William, who really contribute to what makes Detours great! We always recommend the helicopter add-on, if possible, as there is nothing like seeing the Grand Canyon from above! We offer several other tours as well as custom tours all over the Southwest, so we hope to have you again soon! Thank you so much!

This trip was from 7am to 8pm. Chad our tour guide was wonderful he told stories and told all kinds of facts big and small about the Grand Canyon and the area. It cost 155.00 for adults, which included lunch, water, and fees to the parks. We stopped in Sedona and the Navajo Nation. We made stops along the way for pictures taking and restroom breaks. We went in a VERY nice 12 passenger van that had comfy seats and big windows. The van picked us up at our hotel. This trip had guests from 25yrs old and up.
It is well worth the money. You get to leave the driving to someone else and have a very knowledgeable person tell you all the wonderful things about the area. The Great Canyon is a site that everyone should see during their life time.
Please go to their site and check them out. You will not be disappointed. It was very long day.
I personally think this is not a trip for small children unless there are other children in the group.
I would use this group again.

We had a nice day trip to three awesome stops. There were 12 of us and our tour guide, Leslie. It was a beautiful ride and Leslie happens to be a native of Arizona...making her knowledge of the area second to none! We learned alot and saw the natural beauty of God's country!

I just got home from a tour with Detours on a day trip to the Grand Canyon. It was incredible. Last night I spent over $100 in taxi fare from Chase Field to Scottsdale. Then today I spend $155 on a full day (it is full, be prepared for a full day) to Sedona, Grand Canyon, Najavo Reservation, and some other quick stops for bathroom or stretching. Unbelievable value. Our guide, Memo, was great and he told us a lot about the areas vegetation, wildlife, elevation, and history.
I was looking at other tour companies before deciding on this one and I'm glad that I checked Yelp and TripAdvisor scores to make my decision. Don't be a dolt and pick this one! 3 hours around the park and multiple vantage points... Oh and lunch/water is included! Come onnnn!
