“First Experience with Time Share”
Reviewed January 23, 2014

We used our points to stay 5 nights at this resort and found it to be very comfortable and had everything we needed for a great vacation. We enjoyed the remote location of the resort and found it relaxing for us. The TV's will no doubt be updated soon, but were okay for what we needed. Free wifi was a real plus as that is the way we keep in touch with home and family. Thanks for a great "first timeshare" experience.

Room Tip: It depends if you want a room with a view, quiet privacy such as interior rooms, or what your idea o...

I read the complaints that many people had and I am glad it did not sway me from booking. Yes, it had some problems but I think it is a great place for families. so what if the decor is a little older and the tables had some scratches- now you don't have to worry about your kids so much. The kitchen was really large and nice, very large tub, separate shower and living room. The pool and water slide were really nice and we had a great time there. Decent workout room too. The grounds are nice to walk around and lots of shops and restaurants within a mile. There was also a bbq area with several families grilling something that smelled really good.

We checked in around 10 pm so parking was very restricted due to some construction going on but found a spot. Next night (Christmas Eve) we came home at 2 am after spending time with family at their home. Security approached us right away and asked for our parking permit. Said I did not have one. He said you got one when you checked in- no, I didn't. He said yes, I did, I got it from the concierge, No, i did not ever talk to a concierge so never got a parking pass. I held up my room key and he said that did not mean a thing to him. He really wanted to make sure we were registered guests. Now, this place is really out there by itself and it was just my daughter and myself at 2 am on Christmas morning. What else would we be doing in their parking lot other than trying to get to our room? So, other than the overzealous security guard who was rather rude on Christmas morning, I liked the place and would go back. I will make sure to get the parking pass at the desk next time I check in too!

Room Tip: Ask if construction is still going on and might want to be away from that. It looked pretty extensiv...

This is not your typical concrete, palm trees, swimming pool resort! This resort is DIFFERENT! It has a flavor of the Old West. The architecture is varied and adds to the mood of exploring and discovering something that had been hidden. Even the cookware and table ware in the rooms have a feeling of excellence! The appliances are easy to use, the decor is pleasant, and the furniture is what you'd be comfortable in at home! Great place!

This place is very easy to find, but it's in the middle of no where. There are a series of big box stores and fast food places three or four long blocks down the road, but that's it. Check-in was smooth, however the unit initially assigned was ground floor facing east and had a great view of the cars parked in front of the suite. We requested a different unit and ended up with a west facing unit overlooking the pool - much better. The layout of the complex is extremely poor with buildings clustered close together with many units facing inside, small balconies facing each other, and windows opening to common walkways. Nobody mentioned that there was a new building under construction next door and that workers were going to be active at 7 AM.

Our 1 bedroom unit unit had been recently updated. Very large kitchen and bathrooms, granite countertops, new cabinets, flooring, linen, drapery and upholstery, but for some reason they opted to keep the old sinks, taps and banged up wooden furniture - it really takes away from all the good things they tried to achieve. The pools, outdoor jacuzzi and patio areas are very large, even compared to big chain hotels. Mercifully no pestering for timeshare sales after we got there.

The checkout was priceless. Our reservation was for 7 nights. Here it goes...Me: Hi, we're checking out 2 days early. Her: name? Me: I give her my name. Her: no charges. Me expecting a question if I want a receipt, paper or email. So after a bit of a pause she says: you're good to go. Strongly recommend replacing her with a key drop box. Wouldn't go back.

Room Tip: Most units face inside looking directly at another unit, with the bedroom windows opening to public...

We brought two children and planned to spend our week relaxing by the pool. Disappointed to find the slide was closed when we got here. We spoke with the resort twice before arriving and not once did they tell us the slide was closed...they even talked about this feature. The slide remained closed the entire time we were here even though they told us last night that it would open today. Now the grand lie is that the lifeguards didn't show up....amaxing the employees even come to work knowing management lies to the guests and they take the heat for it. You cannot trust anything they tell you.

After reading a few of the latest reviews before going to this resort we were a bit panicked. Making a call to them before arrival may have helped get us into a better location. The one bedroom junior suite was clean and nicely decorated with a southwest flair. We did have a flat screen TV in the kitchen/dining/living area but the TV in bedroom was still the large boat anchor type. That was not a big issue for us. The front desk was very responsive to our requests and always welcoming and friendly. The outward appearance of the resort was very nice. It's just the practical application of that architecture didn't allow a lot of sunlight to reach our location thus giving a cold and closed in feeling. Larger suites did have sliding glass doors and balcony or porches but still looked like they were going to still suffer from lack of sun. I guess in the 100 degrees summers this is more desirable than in fall/winter when our temperatures most of the week ranged from 35 to 65. The pools looked great but only got to use the hot tub during this cold week. The location although a bit out of a central area was fine as you need to have a car to survive in Phoenix. Liked their little cactus garden and the horseback riding/western miniature town across the street was a nice touch. Also, Phoenix area is a road bike friendly town. More bike lanes than I've ever seen. Loved that part.

Room Tip: Stay away from new construction area and rooms without a south facing view.

We booked two weeks here as we wanted to explore the Phoenix area for Condos to buy. The reviews we read on Trip Advisor were mixed so we moved forward with the booking. This resort is in a remote location but with a car you can get anywhere in a short period thanks to great roads. We have visited the Phoenix area many times but had not gone to the areas north and west (Glendale, Sun City, Surprise, Lake Pleasant, Cave Creek and Carefree). The staff at this resort are doing a great job! When we arrived we were early for check in but the guest service person said we could check in. She even commented that our original room was in a building next to new construction and that for two weeks she would give us a room further away. It was a second floor single bedroom with no elevator but she said help would be provided to carry luggage up the steps. The living room/small kitchenette area were on the small side as was the bedroom. We usually do not spend allot of time in our room so no worry. The bathroom was spacious have sink, toilet and tub/shower in the one space. The area was clean and in good condition. Yes the furnishings & TV's a bit dated but clean and well maintained. We had a patio off the front that overlooked the riding stable across the street and the lovely mountains behind. The grounds are lovely and one feels like you are in the desert. There is a really large swimming pool area with a large water slide and one of the largest hot tubs we have ever seen! There are plenty of deck chairs and umbrellas. Towels can be gotten at the pool with each visit. The one thing we were really looking forward to was a separate adult pool with its own hot tub. We love children but it is nice to relax, swim and read without "Marco Polo" in the background..... However there was a small glitch in this - as the large hot tub in the other pool area broke and the staff permitted guests with children to enter and use the adult pool and hot tub. Unfortunately, the families we experienced disregarded the fact they were given a privilage and were not very thoughtful of the other guests. Young children with blowups were in the hot tub and pool making our interest in relaxing in it impossible. There were 3 days of this due to the holiday, the part for the other tub could not arrive and families were there for the Thanksgiving holiday with their children. Not sure how the staff should have handled the situation but we reported, as did others and the situation did not change! I am a pediatric nurse and I wonder why young children should be in a 110 degree hot tub anyway.....so I feel the staff should have said they were sorry but no or have some staff person checking to see how the tub and pool were infact being used. There is a small snack bar only but many restaurants and shopping very near to the resort. Our stay was pleasant and we thank all the staff who helped to make it that way. They are undergoing major resort growth so now is their chance to make future stays improved for their guests.
