We stayed at Cibola Vista for memorial day weekend 2011. We have stayed at many resorts and this was the worst experience we have ever had.
DISLIKES: Room was musty. The wall must be thin as you could hear people coming and going at all hours of the night. THE BED WAS HORRIBLE. It was small and rickety (don't think it was really a queen). The bed was uncomfortable, creaked with every movement, and we only got two microscopic pillows. Our air-conditioner started leaking water through the ceiling at midnight and the hotel staff didn't know what do do.....we just turned it off because we were leaving in the morning. To end our trip, my wife woke up with two cockroaches crawling on her in bed at 3am!!!! Needless to say we packed up at 3 AM and left in a hurry. When I went to front desk to check out we got HORRIBLE SERVICE. I told them about everything and the guy said he would note it in the computer. No apology or anything, it was like he didn't care at all (maybe he was tired at 3am!) To tell you how bad our experience was, we have never left a hotel early, even a motel! The restaurant only stayed open until 7pm so we had to eat out somewhere else every night.
LIKES: Room was clean (except bugs). Room was average size (not small, not large) Ground were well taken care of. Pool looked great for adults and kids. Close to shopping so we could leave the resort!

After reading some of the reviews, we were a little apprehensive about our week long stay at the Cibola Vista. All I can say, is we couldn't have been happier. It was a little off the beaten path, but close to Super Targer/Walmart. Day trips to Sedona, Tucson were within reasonable distance. The grounds were nicely kept, both pools were enjoyable with plenty of seating in sun/shade. As stated in previous reviews, we were not approached while drinking our bottled water, cans of soft drinks or eating snacks by the pool. We enjoyed watching the sunset off of our third floor balcony, grilling on the BBQ, playing basketball and booking a significantly discounted hot air balloon ride.

After reading a number of negative reviews on this site we were a little nervous about what we would find at this resort upon arrival. Luckily, we were pleasantly surprised! We rented a one bedroom Master Suite and found it to be spotless, well stocked and spacious, with an extremely comfortable bed and a hot, powerful shower. The grounds were not as fancy as some other resorts we've stayed at, but they were clean, well-kept and adequate. The pool areas were very nice and we especially enjoyed the more secluded adult pool with its comfortable, padded lounge chairs.

The northwest Phoenix location was convenient to the spring training ballparks that we were interested in visiting and groceries, restaurants and shopping were also close by. Traffic in the area was minimal and since outside street noise was nonexistent, our rest was wonderfully undisturbed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and check-in and check-out went smoothly. If you stay here, consider taking the short ride north to Lake Pleasant. We had a wonderful lunch, outside on the water, at Dillon's restaurant at the marina and the scenery was beautiful.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony with morning or afternoon sun

First of all we are spoiled as we own Royal Resorts timeshares in Mexico that are first-class. So we never expect any timeshares to be quite as nice. We were here for five nights, two of which were a bargain through Bass Pro. The resort is north of the 101 loop beltway by about 15 minutes, but that was no problem for us. There was a SuperTarget and a couple restaurants within 5 minutes.

We upgraded to a Master 1-bedroom suite and it was well worth it. The kitchen was nicely stocked with dishsoap, paper towels, icemaker and the like. The king bed was so comfortable, it was great sleeping (friends who did not upgrade said the queen bed was a small one). Three sinks, a big jacuzzi tub and a nice shower. Everything was well kept. The cleaning crew failed to remove a couple cigar butts from the ashtray on the balcony (which had a great view for sunset watching), but otherwise, the unit was clean and well kept. As with most resorts, not being on the top floor means hearing those above you moving around. We were thankful not to have a herd of elephants above us as we've had at other places!

There is an adult pool and then the larger family one. Both were just fine--the larger one being attractive and more open. We noticed folks had brought in their own water bottles and were not aware of security ousting them.

There is a charge for wi-fi so we did not use it. There is a computer in the lobby, but I think they charge for using it.

We were required to attend the 90 minute timeshare sales presentation since we were there for our Bass Pro "bargain"...folks were pleasant and not pushy. They just give you an awful lot of information to absorb if you are interested.

Resort staff were all helpful and pleasant. We'd consider staying again.

First off let me say we are pretty easy to please, but this vacation was our least favorite. When we arrived at check in- 4pm our room was still not ready (4:45).
The whole purpose of this trip was to relax at the pool. It was anything but that. They will not let little kids go down the slide on your lap like ALL the other nicer resorts in the Phx area let you do. And worse then that they will not let you bring ANY items into the pool area. No water, drinks for young kids, snacks, etc. They have a cafe bar and want you to buy everything from the bar. We stay at other resorts in the valley and get to bring in outside food, drink, and even adult drinks, as long as it is in a aluminun can or plastic. They have a security guard standing by to inform you right away to take your items OUT. Was not fun or relaxing at all.
We were told by a resort owner that they used to let you have a little freedom at the pool but it has since changed and he wished he wasn't an owner.
Oh yea, they also charge $9.99 for every 24hr of internet hook up in your room. They have computers in the lobby but charge you per minute to use them. Wow!! Bring lots of money if you want to stay here.

This trip was supposed to be a celebration of 30 years of marriage. No romance here!We had looked forward to the trip to Arizona and we wish that we had stayed anywhere else besides Cibola Vista. They did not tell us ahead of time that they schedule weddings, birthday parties, etc. that they hold outdoors at the adult pool/courtyard area. We flew in from Arkansas, and rented a car at the Toyota dealership in Phoenix (Great Savings!) then drove to the resort. The very first issue happened as we drove up as there were men standing out in the street holding us at bay from getting into the office parking to check in. They explained to us very rudely that there is a wedding tonight & that they would try to find us a place to park. We're paying guests owners of timeshare, staying a week, but we might have parking issues? This didn't set well at all. Then we went into the office and it was utter chaos there. We finally got checked in, and we had to park a very long way from the unit we were in, due to the wedding parking congestion. The unit was beautifully furnished, and faced the adult pool. From our balcony, we watched the sea of humanity who were attending the wedding. Then the fun really started. They of course had a DJ, and an extremely loud sound system- state of the art I'd say. The reception music, some disco, some 80's & 90's music - loud is a very mild way of putting it. It sounded as if they were in our bedroom with us. No way to sleep I don't care who you are. We had ear plugs & they didn't help. We called to complain & were told that the wedding has the floor until 11 pm. That was 1 a.m. Arkansas time, which we were still on. Even when we are home and not planning on sightseeing & other activities the next day, we don't stay up until 11 pm. never stay up until 1 a.m. The next day of course we were exhausted, waking up at our usual 6 a.m. Arkansas time. Needless to say this put a damper on our activities. The 2nd night - guess what? Yet another party with the extremely loud music until 11 pm Arizona time. Suffice it to say we didn't get a decent night's sleep until the 3rd night. Our whole week was affected by those two nights of lost sleep. We checked out before the following weekend party line up, and stayed at a cheap, old hotel in Phoenix and got about the same quality of sleep. We asked the desk clerk at Cibola Vista about the parties. We are owners of a timeshare and have never had this type of experience at the other properties. She told us that they have weddings or other parties every weekend. This place doesn't even have free internet access unless you go to the office. It wouldn't matter which unit you stayed in, the noise here was just unbelievable. The water temperature in the shower was hard to regulate. The sheets wouldn't stay on the bed. There was inadequate storage for clothing and the bedroom was tiny. Another reviewer mentioned insects, and we also had a problem with those. The resort is very near the highway, and Peoria is a very nice town.
