“Very Nice RV Park & Very Cool Staff”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

My wife and I have been at this campground for a while as she has a long term contract in Payson.
A few quick notes:
- Nice shady spots
- Quiet location
- Very nice swimming pool and facilities
- Great friendly and helpful owners and staff. Love those guys and gals. They know you by name and always keep an eye out for you. Thanks for all your help!!
- Close to all local attractions, restaurants, shopping, etc. You can actually walk to a nice breakfast/lunch restaurant right across the street.
- Payson is at around 5000 feet altitude so it is MUCH COOLER than much of Arizona which really made it a wonderful place to stay.
- With respect to a few reviewers who said it was dusty: this is Arizona so it kind of comes with the game. We had no issues with it.
Bottom line is that we both have really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it. BUT, it is popular so I recommend giving them a call for a reservation.

Thank you so much for your review. We do strive to make every guest's stay as enjoyable and pleasant as possible. Yes, at times our Park does get dusty, however, we do our best to keep the dust at a minimum and to ensure that our guests are happy and are enjoying their stay.

The reviews are pretty accurate - the park is both good and bad. The dirt/dust is pretty bad. I was here for a month and everything in my Motorhome was covered in red dust. Plus, for the price I think you should get a table at the site. And, the sites are close! Lots of unkept permanents.

We have read your review. We would like to address the issue of the picnic table. We are working on constructing new tables.

We will gladly place a table in any site upon request. Most of our RV sites do not have tables, however, if a site can accept a table we will be happy to put a table in the site.

We would encourage you to give our park another try. We want all our guest to have an enjoyable pleasant stay. We strive to make this happen.

We stayed here Labor Day weekend with friends who had their own site and all of us had a blast! This park excels at so many things that it made us forget about what it didn't. You can tell this used to be a KOA at one time but it was better than any AZ KOA we've stayed at. The staff here was so nice and helpful, all weekend long. They truly like kids and families, unlike other RV parks who prefer only retirees. We saw all ages here.

We had what they call a pop-up site, because that's what we travel in. We were surprised it didn't have a picnic table, it was small, and 20 amp, not 30. It turned out we loved it! It had so many trees it was very private and shaded. We had the best night's sleep here that we've ever had while camping—quiet too! It was close to the playground which our daughter loved and easy for us to keep an eye on her. All the 20 amp meant was that we turned the A/C off for a few minutes to use the microwave—no big deal.

We were given a key for the bath/shower house near our site and the lock was a little tricky but we got the hang of it. It had complimentary toiletries, but was not as well kept as the bath/showers in the clubhouse so we showered there, very clean. The pool & terraced patio area was nice & clean, which our families used several times. Saturday night the park hosted a potluck party complete with DJs and dancing. The DJs were great, played a good mix, and took requests. It was so fun! Sunday, the park had a scavenger hunt for the kids, complete with prizes. The DJs were back again at the pool which made for a fun afternoon.

Check-in and check-out was easy and quick. You can’t beat this location. Very close to town, Basha’s, Safeway, Walmart, etc. It made a great base for exploring all the area has to offer. The clubhouse had extensive info on area activities and even gave us a coupon for Tonto Natural Bridge. A quick & easy drive from our home in the valley but what a nice change in temperature for this time of year. Thank you Payson RV Campground for a great weekend, we will be back!

If you ask for a site in the back, it would be less noisey. I do not know if it is reserved for campers that stay longer. I stayed for 4 days near the front by the highway. It was not so quite. I enjoyed the pool and I even walked across the street to breakfast. I would not stay there again only because it did not seem so private. nothing to do but enjoy a pot luck each weekend?? I liked the idea of being able to get into town right away and back. There is state campgrounds down the way, Beeline hwy, after the wallmart, homedepot and may other popular stores. I found out that the hotels are not pet friendly that is why I have stayed in campgrounds lately.

We are staying here labor day weekend. Nice quiet campground with nice rv sites. We are camping in an rv and are in site 48...love it! We are far enough from the front to feel like we are away but close enough if we need something it's just a short walk. Showers look nice but we have our rv has a shower so we haven't used them. Pool is well water so it's cool but very well maintained. Office staff are very nice and remembered us by name the day after checkin. Firewood is 5.99/bundle and fire ring is 5.00 for length of stay. Our site was $33/nite...very reasonable. We ventured to tonto fish hatchery today and tomorrow we plan on going to the natural bridge and all are within a short drive. Beautiful area and we will definitely be returning here!

If you don't want to be in the boonies, but want a good camping location, then this is it. They have good campsites for tents only, some do seem a bit close to your neighbor, so look up online first. We've never been there before, so we chose our spot blindly, but it was great! There were many trees and bushes around to make it seem like we were camping alone.

If you have kids or older people, then it might be a little problem. There's only one main shower location so depending on where you stay you have to walk.

Wow. Not as advertised. Three toilets & 2 working showers in the ladies for a 100 site park. Fewer in the men's. No toilet paper, no soap, inoperable shower flooding the floor each of the 3 days we were there. Wi-fi was on site but access codes were only available periodically so if you wanted to use your computer you had to be alert for someone in the office, even during office hours.

Room Tip: This park was expensive and unattractive. Plenty of camping available in the surrounding state and n...

Thank you for your review.

We have taken your review seriously. We have encouraged our permanent guest to clean their sites with our help. We believe we have addressed your concern appropriately.

Picnic tables are not always available on every site, however, if a guest requests a picnic table we do our best to accommodate that request. We are in the process of constructing new tables in order to have more tables available for our guests usage.

We do encourage our guests who gave us suggestions to come back and enjoy the park.
