Owner description: The Paton Center for Hummingbirds is a place to explore and experience the birds of Southeast Arizona. The site is dedicated to the observation and conservation of hummingbirds--and all of southeast Arizona's astounding biodiversity--through recreation, education, and sustainable practices. Over 200 bird species have been reported at this 1.4-acre residential property on the outskirts of Patagonia, including: Violet-crowned Hummingbirds, Gray Hawks, Varied Buntings, Thick-billed Kingbirds, and many more! Gates are open dawn to dusk. Entry is free of charge, but donations to the "Sugar Fund" help Tucson Audubon maintain the grounds, feed the birds, improve the habitat, and provide educational opportunities. Great fun to follow the action of the birds at the feeding stations. Paton's was recently purchased by the Tucson Audubon Society and is being nicely maintained. This is a must stop for birders visiting the Patagonia area.

The Paton property has been purchased and will continue to provide world class birding opportunities. Generous contributions from more than 1000 members of the birding community in an initiative led by the American Bird Conservancy (ABC) in partnership with Victor Emanual Nature Tours and Tucson Audubon Society, enabled the purchase of the property by ABC in mid-February 2014.

Additional donations for management and renovation work enabled Tucson Audubon to accept the property as a gift from ABC.

Tucson Audubon's Paton Center for Hummingbirds was established through the generous gift of the property by the American Bird Conservancy at the end of February 2014.

More donations are needed now in order for Tucson Audubon to continue our work to maintain and develop the site to provide a more rewarding experience to visiting birders. Dig deep!

Great bird watching for the lazy. Just pull up a chair and watch the feeders. Hummingbirds in the warmer months are the star attractions, but other birds, including many rarities, have been seen here in all seasons. A small donations is requested for all visitors. It is certainly worth it.

The flight pattern is FULL! We enjoyed the Hummingbirds and many other species. The caretaker was so helpful and the peaceful quiet environment was extremely relaxing.

This is a very good place to see birds and especially hummingbirds at the right time of the year. I believe there are birds year round, but some of the rarer hummingbirds are only there certain times of the year. It is always a nice place to come and look for birds. If you are in the area it is is a worthwhile place to visit.
