We have been going to El Chorro for the last 5 years. Whether having brunch, dinner or enjoying a happy hour, we always find both the food and the service well worth it. Love those sticky buns!!

If our out of town guests insist on El Chorro we may have cocktails and maybe a shrimp cocktail, enjoy the incredible views and then quickly leave and find one the many fine Restaurants in Scottsdale. As good as the setting is,that is sadly offset by the food that is poorly prepared, and drastically overpriced.

We have been coming to El Chorro for 30 some years. We have had the most excellent service every time. You can catch all ages of clientele here too from Hipsters to Old School, being treated with dignity and respect. I love the knowledge of the wait staff, and the bartenders are SPOT ON PERFECTION! Let's not forget to mention the fabulous STICKY BUNS.. I would recommend this restaurant to ALL AGES. Whether you sit at the bar for Happy Hour, or sit at table for a fabulous dinning experience YOU WILL ENJOY THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE FOR SURE! Can't wait to dine here again YUM!!!!

We dined here last weekend as a belated Christmas celebration with special friends. The restaurant is attractive, nestled in the small hills of Paradise Valley. We arrived 20 minutes early to enjoy a cocktail before our meal and immediately learned our table was ready and waiting. Unfortunately, the table was directly in front of the kitchen entrance and lousy with foot traffic and din. Declining the noisy and busy freeway intersection, we were seated around a wall at a more reasonable table. Then we sat abandoned for 15 uncomfortable minutes. And so the evening went, with service nearing and at times accomplishing rudeness. Our waiter, Leopold, garnished his lack of attention and poor professional skills with witty remarks on the rare occasion he visited the table. For example, the oft-mentioned sticky buns were served mid-meal, because (in his words) “we were in the holiday over-indulging mode and there was no place to place them earlier”. Of course, the table was naked for the first 25 minutes of our visit. He failed to appear for appetizer orders, took drink orders but failed to deliver the drinks, and brought wrong orders to the table. At one instance, he even argued with one of our friends that the order he brought was in fact correct, when it obviously was not since another at the table had an identical order, and the two dishes served were different. While some of the dishes were adequate, and the pork tenderloin was quite tasty, the kitchen could not overcome the service fiasco. Corrections were needed to the bill provided due to the drink orders taken but not provided and differences between dishes ordered and served. The service manager came to the table and when informed of the service problems, he insisted that we carry out to-go boxes of those same sad sticky buns as reparations for the terrible service. We had not touched the one on our table since they are a bit of a contradiction to where we were in our meal. Overall, it was an uncomfortable evening. The staff knows that they work in an attractive and well-established restaurant, yet lack the professional skills and knowledge to perform properly their jobs. The location of this restaurant is paramount to its success.

After decades, new owners, new inside and out. But they did save a lot of the old Stuff.... this is still my favorite place.....the view of Camelback Mt is still great! the food is still great the sticky buns the best! I do admit I miss the smaller more intimate outdoor area and the old bar, where Robert Mitchum would sit and many other movies stars..... Over the years....but it is still a winner! If you haven't been, do try it....you won't be sorry!
