According to friends in Scottsdale area, this is considered a local's hangout. Music on the patio (at least on the weekend when we were there), great place to have drinks. Lots of folks having dinner outside, but we weren't used to 96 degrees at 8pm (mid-May) so we had dinner inside. Excellent service, waiter was great. Food was exceptional too, I had braised short-ribs and my wife had seafood (can't remember exactly what but it was good too). Nice wine list, sommelier was very helpful.

Had dinner for two on Lon's patio. The atmosphere was charming and pleasant, especially since there was a wonderful country singer who played the guitar and sang songs of the old west. Overall the food was very good and would have to kick it up to 'excellent' if I was reviewing solely the hangar steak that we ordered. Cooked to perfection and served with either real fries or mashed potatoes. The steak laid over a bed of expertly cooked asparagus.

We had the corn gazpacho as an appetizer - this was good but I thought not creamy enough and a tad bit too much lime for my taste. My husband had the peach cobbler for dessert and found it to be both fresh and refreshing. I had the chocolate honey raspberry torte, which was delicious. I don't usually order chocolate for dessert as it is often too sweet. But this was very well done, with a thick mousse consistency on a cake-like base (as opposed to the classic torte base which is usually very firm). It worked very well with the raspberry topping.

The cowboy singer really added to the setting - he had a wonderful voice and was very personable. After he had sung his last song for the night, my husband approached him and asked if would sing one more, which he did. The night was very warm and I think there won't be too many more days of dining on that patio until September. But, it was a nice way to welcome summer and we look forward to returning in the Fall for more good food and serenading!

I recommend that you try this restaurant.

Nice place. Lovely outdoor area after the heat has dissipated a bit. A little dark and uninteresting inside. Decent bar area. Food was fine - starter (wagyu carpaccio) was too small and had been plated much earlier. Main was good. Good wine list. Nice place for a meal out; nothing particularly outstanding or special about it really. Prices relatively high.

Lon's is a very pleasant restaurant for a leisurely Sunday brunch. It is worth it to sit in the lovely gardens on a nice day. They are very pet friendly as well as long as you keep your dog on a leash or in a carrier by your table. The food was good as was the service. We have been there when there was musical entertainment outside as well. This was a nice touch.

Our return to dine at Lon's in their wonderful patio garden was a special focus of our recent trip to the Phoenix area. The crowd, which is considerable on the week-ends, is older and yet sophisticated. I noticed larger groups this time (tables for 6 or 8) but it was Mothers Day week-end. Also new was the music during the dinner service. Soft, not too loud, and jazzy added to the relaxed feel. We look forward to returning. (also, the breakfasts are terrific if you stay at Hermosa). Last Drop bar is small but happening.
