Our experience was Zen like in every way! Our Suite was impeccable, gorgeous view of Cambelback mountain, private pool and the bedding & green amenities were unparalleled in quality. We started off with the Mixology class which was eventful, fun, and we learned SO much. Then our spa experiences were THE world's best and we are definitely spa junkies! The Elements Restaurant was spectacular and all the staff was so gracious and real.

Room Tip: Pick a Suite for sure that is a mountain view!

We stayed at the Sanctuary Camelback just for one night, to recover from our flight from Heathrow, before moving on to Sedona and Grand Canyon. We wished it could have been longer. The hotel was first class in all respects and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend it for short or longer stays.

My partner and I stayed here for 6 nights in late July 2014. We had stayed previously at the Royal Palms Resort two years ago, and decided on our next trip to the valley we would try this one. While both resorts are first-rate and have certain unique advantages, my preference is the Sanctuary. You will love this place!

We oddly love to come to Paradise Valley in the summer because we don't mind the heat, and the off-season rates are a steal. I have nothing bad to say about this place. The setting is splendid, the rooms are ideal (we stayed in a mountain casita), lushly appointed, quiet, private, and like a home away from home. The view outside our windows and deck was like a post card, with nightly sunsets that thrill and soothe. The grounds, cascading down Camelback's northerly slopes, are awesome. Elements, the restaurant, is one of the best in Phoenix. And stunningly, our best meal of the trip was room service delivered straight to our room from the Elements kitchen, popping with tender, complex flavors.

We each enjoyed a 90-minute hot stone massage in the world-class spa, and wanted to schedule two more. We also used the well-equipped fitness gym, which boasts a multi-lane lap pool overlooking Paradise Valley.

You will not want to leave this resort, but if you do, the nearby Scottsdale shops, galleries, and Fashion Square Mall are an abundant source of relaxation and fun. We will go back to Sanctuary. I recommend it highly, in season or off.

Michael R.

Room Tip: Mountain casitas have the beautiful decks and better views.

When we got into Arizona, it was 113 degrees. Maybe that's part of why Sanctuary seemed like such a shockingly transformative place. It's tucked into the side of Camelback Mountain. The "camel" towers above it like a mascot/spirit animal/sunset framing device. The grounds are lush with native desert flowers and cacti. We spent Monday morning in the infinity pool and nearly quit our jobs to stay there. The rooms were clean and equipped with those Apocalypse strength ACs. The spa (with a lobby that looks like a temple/mosque/one of those cool old churches) is world-class. Nothing on the resort feels overdone or out of place. It feels like a natural part of the Arizona desert, which is a feat to pull off. Chef Beau is a star here. He was born a main attraction. Sure he can cook (scallops over toasted cous cous, his short rib, that heirloom tomato salad). But before we had big-screen TVs and iPads, we had humans like Beau to tell us stories. Top-down, every single person, from valet to concierge to servers to in-room dining... just seemed stoked to work there, professionally amiable, treated guests like family. We had our three year old daughter with us, and it's not specifically a family resort... but everyone went out of their way to make her feel comfortable.

I guess the takeaway at the end is... this felt like home. A world-class home that's much, much nicer than my own home with more world-class architecture and world-class people. But home.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and taking the time to review your visit. We are delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful time during your stay despite the heat. We are very happy you had such a great time lounging at our infinity pool, but happy you didn’t quit your jobs. We wouldn’t want that on our conscience. We love that you took full advantage of the spa and restaurant during your stay and that you had a wonderful experience at both. We agree with you that Chef Beau is show stealer. Thank you so much for the kind words about our staff. We are very happy everyone made your family feel at home during your visit. We always want our guests to feel like Sanctuary is their home away from home. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us and we hope to see you again next time you make it out to Arizona.

This was my second stay here. Went in July this time, but still enjoyed time outside. I'm not one to repeat visits, but I would go again if given the opportunity. Beautiful grounds, close to everything, great food, exceptional service. Very well done!

My wife and I decided to do a quick extended weekend getaway in late June to Sanctuary to get away from the San Francisco cool temperatures and enjoy some good old fashioned hot weather. The rates at the end of June were awesome and we ended up reserving a one bedroom suite (Mountainside casita villa) that included a Living Room, Dining Room and kitchen. The room was very nice (except for the dated looking couch) and what was truly exceptional was we never heard a sound from outside. Never heard another guest, never heard a door close. It was awesome and we slept like babies.

The pool area was great and it has fabulous views of the mountainside. Each day my wife and I spent time alternating between the sun and the shade and just read our Kindles and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The feel of this resort is awesome. It really is a Sanctuary. Everything is done classy but not over the top. We aren't spa people so we didn't do the spa so I have nothing to report on that.

We did eat breakfast, lunch and 2 dinners at the hotel. The other nights we had dinner at FnB (AWESOME!!!) and Cafe Monarch (Very good). We ate breakfast at the restaurant twice and did room service the other two days. The breakfast food is awesome especially the pork fried rice with sunny side egg. But it is very expensive. We saved a few bucks by sharing an oatmeal via room service and that was more than enough. Dinner at Elements is a treat. The food was fantastic and the service was attentive but not over bearing. One night we had reservations to eat at Mission but we sat down at the Jade Bar around 5pm and never left. They had a terrific band playing cover tunes and we just had a casual, fun night. It was awesome!

Overall we loved this place. We went to the Phoenician for a drink and didn't like it. Felt like Vegas without the casino. We also went to have a drink at Montelucia and liked it but only if we were vacationing with a group of people. It's a livelier place (not loud, just lively) and we had spent a few days at Sanctuary and had fallen in love with the quiet feel of the resort.

As the title of this review says, we will go back as often as we can especially to take advantage of the low summer rates. When we go back we will definitely eat at Elements and FnB (in Scottsdale) and will probably try to get to Mission since we missed out on this trip. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We like the Mountainside rooms as they are, as the name implies, right on the side of the mountain...
