The views at this resort are outstanding and so is the food. The quality and presentation of food was awesome. The myofascial stretch class offered by Tim gave me the motivation to continue it at home.

This was our third visit to Sanctuary. And it was all going so well… the majority of our stay was lovely – good food, nice spa services, a leisurely day by the pool… but our stay ended very poorly when we awoke to realize that the night before, the cleaning staff had removed a bag from our room situated beside our suitcase. This bag was clearly marked as a bag from an art gallery and had a sculpture wrapped in bubble wrap inside of it. It was not located anywhere near the garbage containers in our room and we were told it is the hotel’s policy that cleaning staff are not to remove anything from the room that isn’t clearly marked as garbage or in a garbage container. We contacted the front desk and they sent a security guard who wasn’t capable of taking any action without first checking with his supervisor and wasn’t terribly helpful. We had to push him to take action such as contacting the person who cleaned the room the night before, and checking the garbage on site. We also felt that he wasn’t very happy to be dealing with a same-sex couple and at one point made what could have been construed as a disparaging remark, but we let it go as we were more concerned about locating our lost piece of art, which cost us a considerable amount.

The front desk informed us that they had all available personnel looking at the garbage. I’m glad to say that later that morning, the bag and its contents were located and returned to us. What I’m still disappointed in, however, is that there was no explanation or follow up as to why it was removed from our room in the first place. We were also disappointed that we had the benefits of our holiday essentially wiped out by the stress of this situation that was clearly not of our making. While our piece of art was thankfully returned, we were not offered any gesture of compensation for our stress. It might have been nice to at least offer to pay for our breakfast, which we ate worried about having lost our art and fuming at why it would be removed in the first place.

And speaking of which, can you please tell us WHY OUR BELONGINGS WERE REMOVED FROM OUR ROOM AND THROWN OUT???? After this episode, I’m not sure we can continue to recommend this property, nor are we in a rush to return!

Please accept our apologies for the missing piece of artwork. As discussed while on property this was a mistake on our staff's part in mistaking it for items to be thrown away. Clearly this was an error on our part and beyond that there is no other explanation. It simply was a mistake and one we are very much sorry that it happened. Our staff went above and beyond during the search to find it and I know many of our team were searching for it until it was discovered. We had already reached out to you prior to this posting and had not heard back but certainly would like to follow up once again with our personal apologies and address your concerns as best we can.

It certainly is not the norm to throw away items of this size and its a mistake that has prompted review of our processes and reiteration of how we handle situations like this to avoid this very disappointing incident. I'm very happy it was recovered unharmed and back in your hands but certainly understand the unnecessary stress it caused you while it was recovered. My deeply sorry for the inconvenience and look forward to connecting with you to convey that directly.

Best Regards,

I've been to most of the top resorts in Scottsdale and this would definitely rank as the best. Not inexpensive, but worth every dollar. Loved the fact that it was small but had all the features of a large resort. Great accommendations, great service, amzing view, wonderful restaurant & bar and spa. They even found someone on premises to change a flat tire for me. I'm returning.

Room Tip: They're all good rooms.

1-night visit in Spring 2014. Mom, Dad, and 18-year old son. We've stayed at multiple resorts & spas worldwide so have decent basis for comparison.

Pros: Location, Room quality and furnishings, top-notch restaurant staff. Food is good in elements restaurant. Wife liked Spa, son liked workout room.

Cons: Food price is too high, even for a resort, e.g. $48 for sea bass entree, It tasted good, though. Pool staff is lacking a competent Manager to whip things into shapre; the pool experience was the low point of the visit; they hire kids with snail-like speed & no understanding of resort's high-end customer's expectations. Pool environment was 3 stars at best.

Summary: Relatively good experience. If you want a good get away in Phoenix area, this is likely about as good as it gets in the region. Not 5 stars, more like 4 with a few blemishes. Would not recommend more than 1-2 nights, max; if you want longer relaxation, you have that level of $ to spend, go to somewhere with a bit more class.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. We are glad to hear you enjoyed the room and that our staff did a great job taking care of you and your family. We understand that dinner in elements is not cheap, but the quality of the food makes the price worth it. It sounds like you enjoyed the food, but hopefully next time you will feel that every penny spent was well worth it. We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the service from our pool staff. We will pass your comments on to our pool team so that we can improve the experience for our guests. Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with feedback about your stay. Hopefully we will see you again for a five star visit next time you are back in Arizona.

When paying $1,000 for a night and spa you would think a room with a balcony would be in order. Hard to enjoy the beautiful area and weather when you can't escape the concrete walls! Pool was dirty, the facility overall was dirty. The staff was great but would have loved to seen them enforce the no cell phone policy at the pool!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony!

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. Unfortunately, due to the layout of the property on the mountain, not every mountain room is able to have a balcony. We are very sorry that the lack of a balcony diminished your overall experience. I have reached out to our pool manager to address your complaints about the pool area. We sincerely apologize for any interruption caused by cell phones in the pool area. We will have a talk with the staff to ensure that this issue does not come up again. However, I am very glad to hear that the staff took really good care of you. I want to thank you again for your feedback as it will help us improve the overall guest experience. I hope you will give us the opportunity to exceed your expectations next time you visit Arizona.

This was a nice property with lovely views and a good location but extremely overpriced. With a very late check in 4:00pm and early check out 11:00am policy; we spent $900 for two nights and basically only enjoyed the facilities for one day. In hindsight, we should have just gone to a cheap near the airport hotel for the second night as we had to leave by 9:30am for the airport.

I had a very good massage with Carl but again quite expensive... $180 for 60 minutes including gratuity.

Our room was nice, but was two double beds vs one king as requested. They didn't have any kings left. Some rooms had an outside balcony but ours did not: I'm guessing you pay more for a room with a balcony. My significant other who had booked our reservation looked around upon arrival and said, "this is it?". For the money, he really thought we were getting something pretty special.

We had a pretty good meal in the restaurant; service was great.

If money is no object, this is a pretty nice place.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with feedback from your recent stay. I’m very sorry to hear that you didn’t feel that the price matched the value. However, I am glad to hear that overall you had a very enjoyable visit. Our check out and check in time policies have to be the way they are because of how our resort is laid out. We need to ensure that our housekeeping staff has enough time to thoroughly clean and set up rooms that are spread all across the 56 acre property. Unfortunately, due to the layout of the resort, not every room is able to have a balcony. We are very sorry for any inconvenience that the bed situation caused. We really appreciate your feedback and will use your comments to help us improve the guest experience and hopefully ensure that any future visits will leave you feeling that your stay was well worth the expense.
